Quick, Odelia “Tillie” passed away January 5, 2009 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 86 years.
Tillie was born December 24, 1922 at Fox Valley, Saskatchewan to Leon and Victoria Buye. She attended school at Fox Valley until Grade 11. Tillie then moved to Barons at the age of 16. When she was 18 she moved to Medicine Hat. Tillie met Wes Quick at the age of 20 and they were married in 1943 at Vernon BC. They moved to Kelowna then to Wetaskwin. From there they moved to the Red Deer area then to High Level where they farmed for ten years. In 1974 they moved to Vulcan and in 1980 moved to Champion. After Wes passed away, Tillie moved back to Vulcan and resided there until her passing.
Tillie enjoyed gardening, collecting, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren which included other families. She had to give all her grandchildren their first bath. Tillie loved meeting new people and traveling. She was a founding member of the Al-Anon group in the Vulcan area.
Beloved mother of six daughters Bev (Terry) Hornbostel of Sherwood Park, Patricia (Don) Riley of Red Deer, Maureen (Glen) Snelgrove of Lethbridge, Gloria Quick of Vulcan , Valerie (Barry) Close of Edmonton, Susan (Fred) Schneider of Vulcan, four sons Jim (Marsha) and Allen (Wendy) both of Sylvan Lake, Doug (Carol) of Red Deer, Rodney (Janice) of Smithers, 26 grand, 40 great grand, 5 great great grandchildren, 4 brothers, 5 sisters, numerous nieces and nephews.
Tillie was predeceased by her husband Wes in 1988, a sister Alice Gardiner and her parents.
Funeral service Thursday January 8, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Vulcan Legion Hall with Rev. Doug Barrie officiating.
