PRENTICE, Brenda Kay

1939-2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Prentice. Brenda left us on May 5 after a brief battle with cancer.

Brenda was born August 6, 1939 in Magrath, Alberta, the daughter of Wren and Isabell Holladay. Brenda came to Milo in 1958 to work as a school teacher and married local farmer James Prentice three years later and remained a member of the community for the rest of her life.

Brenda raised four children on the family farm, her home for forty years. Many of those years were spent as a hockey mom, running the kids to games or practice and even serving as team general manager at one point.

Brenda remained active in the community throughout her life, serving for extended period as a volunteer with the fall fair and helped found the Milo Library. She was very active with the drop-in centre, where she loved the regular card games. Her artistic skills were frequently called upon, and it seems an entire generation of couples had their wedding celebrations announced by a poster she had drawn.

For many years Brenda served as a teaching assistant at the New Dale Hutterite colony, a position she greatly enjoyed and one that brought her many great friends.

Brenda is survived by her sisters Mildred Martel and Bev Armstrong, her children Cyndi, Jim and Rick, daughter-in-law Ann, grandchildren Thomas, Wren, Sara, Cody and Adam, and many nieces and nephews.

No services are planned at this time due to the current pandemic. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements in care of Vulcan Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.vulcanfuneralhome.ca. 403-485-2633.

    Greetings family of Brenda Prentice

I was lucky and fortunate to work with Brenda at New Dale School. She was a source of knowledge and support especially as a new teacher at New Dale School. The students admired and respected her and she them. My condolences to all who knew her.
    Thanks Brenda and God Bless.
