Petronech, Lesley Ruth, of Vulcan, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, at the Vulcan Community Health Center on July 7, 2018 at the age of 71 years.
Lesley was born in Lethbridge, AB on March 10th,1947. Until the age of 6, she and her parents Gordon and Betty Petronech, along with two older brothers Gordon and John, lived in Coaldale. In 1953, a farm was purchased just on the border of Champion where she grew up and went to school. County Central High school completed her formal education from 1963 to 1965. Seeking to expand her horizons, she attended Olds Business College and her first employment was as a secretary at the Bowden Institution before moving to Calgary in 1968. She then spent 4 years in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from 1979 to 1982. On returning to Calgary, Lesley concentrated on raising her two daughters Niki and Jody.
In 2003, Lesley returned to the original family home on the farm in Champion with her faithful dog Rambo until moving to Vulcan in 2011. Work and Lesley were never strangers., always active and looking for ways to help and improve the lives of others. She worked for AHS as a Home Care Aid until illness forced her to look after herself in April of this year.
Lesley will be missed not only by family, but many friends, co-workers and those she gave care to. Lesley is survived by her daughters Niki and Jody, son-in-law Kris Le Maitre, grandchildren Lilly, Logan and Teisha, sister-in-law Maxine Petronech and cousins Mason Dodds and Deb Swanson and their families.
A Celebration of life was hosted by Lesley’s family at the Vulcan United Church on August 15th at 2:00PM, Rev. Sue MacDonald officiating.
