GLEN GORDON PALMER PASSED AWAY QUIETLY IN HIS SLEEP MAY 23, 1996 AT KELOWNA, B.C. AT THE AGE OF 67 YEARS.
GORDON WAS BORN IN MAKAWA, SASKATCHEWAN ON SEPTEMBER 12, 1925, WHERE HE ATTENDED SCHOOL. HE CAME TO VULCAN AS A YOUNG MAN, WHERE HE LIVED FOR SOME TIME WITH HIS BROTHER LOUIE AND HIS WIFE DOROTHY. WHILE LIVING IN THE VULCAN AND CHAMPION AREAS HE PARTICIPATED IN THE SPORTS OF BOXING, RODEO, WEIGHT LIFTING AND HOCKEY. HE WORKED FOR MANY FARMERS AND DROVE SCHOOL BUS TO THE REID HILL SCHOOL. LATER HE WORKED OIL RIGS FARTHER NORTH. FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS HE HAS LIVED IN DAWSON CREEK AND FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS IN KELOWNA.
GORDON WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AS A KIND HEARTED, HONEST PERSON WHO WAS ALWAYS SO GIVING AND HAD A SPECIAL SOFT SPOT FOR CHILDREN AND HIS NIECES AND NEPHEWS, HIS LATE NIGHT EARLY MORNING PHONE CALLS, HIS LOVE OF COUNTRY MUSIC, ESPECIALLY HANK WILLIAMS SR., HIS REMARKABLE ABILITY TO REMEMBER ALL BIRTHDAYS AND WORDS TO SONGS. IT HAS BEEN SAID THAT WITH STRONG MENTAL ATTITUDE, YOU INCREASE YOUR PHYSICAL ABILITY, GORDON HAD A STRONG MENTAL ATTITUDE.
HE WILL BE SADLY MISSED BY HIS THIRTEEN BROTHERS AND SISTERS, NIECES, NEPHEWS AND MANY FRIENDS.
GORDON WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS PARENTS, A SISTER, A NIECE AND A NEPHEW.
A FUNERAL SERVICE WAS HELD FRIDAY JUNE 7, 1996 AT 2:30 P.M. AT THE CHAPEL OF SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, KELOWNA WITH REV. RON FRENTY OFFICIATING.
INURNMENT AT VULCAN CEMETERY TUESDAY JUNE 11, 1996 AT 11 A.M. WITH REV. DOUG BARRIE OFFICIATING.
