It is with heavy hearts that the family of Leonard B. Urzada announce his passing.  Leonard was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on January 12, 1936  and passed away peacefully on November 15, 2008 in Vulcan surrounded by his loving family members.
Leonard married Irene Korby on July 16, 1958 and shortly thereafter moved his new wife and family west to Calgary where he was eventually employed with Canada Malting for 42 years until his retirement in 1999.  Len and Irene moved into a retirement community in Vulcan where they met and were reunited with friends new and old.  In his spare

Richard Walter “Dick” Groves of Champion passed away suddenly at Vulcan October 29, 2008 at the age of 47 years.
Dick was born August 24, 1961 at Vulcan to Keith and Barbara Groves.  He attended Champion School for Grades 1-9 and the high school in Vulcan for Grades 10-12.  Dick enjoyed playing football and curling in high school.  After graduation in 1979, he went to Calgary where he worked as a courier.  Dick decided to go back to school and attended SAIT taking Business Administration.  From there he worked at different jobs  in the construction industry until he started with Prudential

Hubert Louis Warren formerly of Champion, Alberta, passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre October 17, 2008 at the age of 84 years.
Hubert was born March 10, 1924 to Lewis and Ella Belle Warren. He attended school in the Champion area and continued to farm in the area. On October 29, 1948 he married Edith Williams and together they raised a family in the Champion area.
Hubert was a gifted mechanic and loved farming. He supported the community as a Life Member of the Champion Lions Club. He and Edith loved to travel and spent many summers in the Shuswap

Russell Edward Smith formerly of the Vulcan area passed away October 14, 2008 at Calgary, Alberta at the age of 75 years.
Russell was born January 10, 1933 at Vulcan to Donald and Hazel Smith.  He attended Berrywater school for grades 1-2, Red Cross School for grades 3-7, Vulcan School for grades 7-10 and Red Deer Composite High School for Grade 11.  Russell latter attended SAIT and took a welding course.  From 1958-62 he farmed with the family in the summer and drove semi across Canada and the northern United States in the winter.  On March 2, 1963 Russell married Ruth

Oma Louretta Causey finished her journey of life on this earth on September 30, 2008 at Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 88 years.
Louretta, only child of Champion pioneers, the late Fred and Oma Clever, was born March 4, 1920 at Vulcan Alberta.  She was the grand daughter of Martin George Clever, founder of Cleverville, later renamed Champion after the town site was relocated closer to the railway.  Louretta had a full, rich, happy life growing up with many friends and devoted parents.  She married Dave Causey in August, 1942 and together they farmed side by side with her parents.

Annette Maureen Guenther, beloved wife of Ben, passed away suddenly at the Rockyview Hospital on September 25, 2008 at the age of 67 years.
Annette was born September 16, 1941 at Nordegg, Alberta to George and Annie Innocento.  She spent her childhood at Nordegg and Rocky Mountain House.  Annette moved to Calgary in 1957 where she met her loving husband Ben.  She attended Marvel Beauty School, graduated in 1959 and was a beautician for 51 years Annette especially enjoyed working with senior citizens.  She also enjoyed devoting her life to people with disabilities and was a board

Grace Edna Uhl passed away September 20, 2008 at Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 84 years.
Edna was born July 24, 1924 on the family farm in the Whitkow district northeast of  North Battleford, Saskatchewan to Albert Arthur and Grace Alma Whibley.  She attended Redfield School until Grade 10 then set out to explore the world.  At the age of 16 Edna went to Ontario to visit relatives and ended up staying for seven years.  While she was in Ontario, Edna worked at a bomb factory for a short while.  When she was in her early twenties, Edna moved to
