Nelson, David George passed away peacefully on November 9, 2009 at his home in Queenstown at the age of 66 years.
David was born February 26, 1944 in Bassano, Alberta to Palmer and Alma Nelson. He was raised on the farm near Queenstown and received his schooling in Queenstown and Milo. David attended Calgary Technical Institute where he took a course in Agricultural Mechanics. Upon completion, he returned home to farm with his Dad and older brother Ken. David and Ken has a great partnership with their mixed farming operation of cattle and grain.

Smith-Reath, Evelyn Elizabeth was taken home to her Lord and Savior. November 9, 2009 at Vulcan, Alberta at the age of 85 years.
Evelyn was born June 28, 1924 on the family farm in the Alston area south of Vulcan to George and Marion Reath. She attended Alston School and Calgary Normal School. Evelyn returned to the area to teach for a number of years, then was fully involved in the farming business. She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ where she lead the choir on many occasions. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, spending time with family

STOKES, J. Frank1918 – 2009
Stokes, Joseph Frank passed away October 13, 2009 at Lethbridge, Alberta at the age of 91 years.
Frank was born on September 14, 1918 on the farm in the Armada District that his dad homesteaded in 1909 to Charlie and Virtue Stokes. He attended school at Brunetta and played all sports. Frank especially loved to box and ride horses. He married Lillian “Sis” Chambers on July 11, 1939. Frank often said that he didn’t have to pretend that his old Harley motorcycle or car were out of gas because they were usually broken

After a long and rich life, Brian passed away peacefully on October 12, 2009 following a brief illness
J.A. Brian Todd was the youngest son of Robert and Mae Todd, born December 2, 1928 in Vulcan. Brian attended school at Thigh Hill and Vulcan and completed his secondary education at SAIT in 1949-50 where he took a course in building construction and drafting. After completing his courses, he returned to Vulcan to farm with his Dad.

Beloved husband of wife Loyia of Vulcan, loving father of two daughters Suzanne (Dennis) Douglas and Sheilah (Bryce) Schutte, a son Steven (Jessica) Malmberg, five grandchildren Devett, Gabriela, Kayden, Chaz, Mitchell, mother Lucy, sister Linda Rutland, four brothers Ken, Rick, Kirk, Kevin, and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Ward, Mabel, beloved wife of George, passed away October 4, 2009 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 78 years.
Mabel was born at Gleichen, Alberta on May 12, 1931 to Emily and Hugh Telford. She was raised on the BC coast and took grade 13 and Normal School training at Vancouver. After finishing school, Mabel went to visit relatives at Arrowwood and decided to stay. She worked at Mr. Munsey’s grocery store and operated the switchboard in the evening for CR Curtis. GROVES, Keith Maxwell1931 – 2009
Groves, Keith Maxwell passed away peacefully August 22, 2009 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 77 years.
Keith was born September 19, 1931 at Champion, Alberta to Max and Annetta Groves. He attended Yale, Harmony and Champion Schools. Keith started farming as a young man with his father. He attended SAIT for one year and then returned home to farm. In 1957 Keith married Barbara Poffenroth and began their life together on the farm.

Wickstrom, Betty passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on November 12, 2009 at the age of 81 years.
Betty was born in Calgary on May 26, 1928, the only daughter and third child of Donald and Hazel Smith.  She grew up in the Reid Hill and Berrywater districts and attended Marshall, Berrywater and Vulcan schools.  Upon graduation, Betty moved to Calgary and was employed by United Grain Growers as a comptometer operator for four years.  It was during this time that Betty met Stan Wickstrom and they were married on June 25, 1949 at the Church of Christ in

Prentice, Kenneth George “Ken”(a.k.a. Sid) passed away suddenly August 24, 2009 at Milo at the age of 46 years.
Ken was born at Bassano, Alberta on April 9, 1963 to Jim and Brenda Prentice. He attended Milo School and County Central High School at Vulcan.
