Norton, Laqueeda Gertrude passed away April 27, 2010 at Arrowwood, Alberta at the age of 74 years.
Laqueeda was born October 31, 1935 at Wetaskiwin, Alberta to Cornie and Rhea Versluys. She attended Champion School and graduated in 1953. Laqueeda worked for the Bank of Commerce in Champion for two years. She quit work and attended the University of Alberta, Calgary Branch, to get her teacher training. Burton, Frederick James passed away at Little Bow Continuing Care, Carmangay on March 31, 2010, four days after celebrating his 86th birthday. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Barbara Burton of De Winton, Alberta, with whom he lived, after immigrating to Canada, for the past 19 years, in England by his sister-in-law Mrs. Toni Berwick and his nieces and nephews. COSKEY-MCKAY, Gwendolyn – 1916-2010

Gwen was born at Chinook, Alberta to William and Nellie Short. Gwen met and married Bruce McKay. Together they farmed and raised their three children in the Reid Hill District and later moved into Vulcan. Following Bruce’s passing in 1970, Gwen moved to Calgary. She met and married Ed Coskey in 1974. After Ed’s passing in 2005, Gwen moved back to Vulcan into the Wheat Country apartments, then the Peter Dawson Lodge and finally Vulcan Extendicare.
Over the years Gwen enjoyed curling, golfing, bowling, painting and later doing many handy crafts with her grandchildren.

NELSON, Clara Eveline – 1912-2010

Clara was born July 5, 1912 at Queenstown, Alberta to Margaret and Aleck Johnson. Nelson, She passed away March 31, 2010 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 97 years. Clara took all her schooling at Queenstown and in 1930, married Nels Nelson, where they raised their five children. She loved to knit and crochet, many gifts her family now enjoy. Family meant the world to Clara and she really enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a life time member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Milo.

HARRIS, Charles Ross – 1935-2010

Harris, Charles Ross or “Chuck” as he was known by his friends, passed away March 19, 2010, at Calgary, Alberta at the age of 74 years.
Chuck was Born in Burford TWP, Ont, He served his country in the Canadian Armed Forces as well as the Royal Canadian Navy stationed out of Cornwallis. He moved to Alberta in 1963, Chuck made himself a career working for the City of Calgary Parks and Recreation division until his retirement.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Erik Esko on March 16, 2010 at the age of 80 years.
Erik was born July 16, 1929 at Overtornea, Sweden where he served in the Army. He came to Canada and worked as a professional painter for many years until retiring in 1994. Erik was well known as the guy with paint on his shoes who never left anything unpainted.
