Angus McCulloch of Vulcan (formerly of Champion), beloved husband of Lois, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Community Health Center on June 12, 2019 at the age of 81 years.

Angus was born Aug. 8, 1937 on the family farm in Lawson, SK, 9th of 10 children born to Colin and Jean McCulloch. Angus left home at 16 for Alberta, working as a carpenter. He followed his brother to Nobleford in 1960 to work at Noble Cultivators, first as a truck driver then as a factory sales rep. Here he met Lois Vaage and they were married on the family

Minty, Rodrick “Rod” Charles, beloved husband of Irene, passed away suddenly at home on June 3, 2019 at the age of 69 years.

Besides his loving wife Irene, Rod is survived by his children – Rod R., William and Teresa, five grandchildren – Dannea, Brandon and Tyrone Minty, Robin and Jasmine Kral, 3 beautiful step granddaughters and 2 amazing step grandsons, sister Josephine Ziegler and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Roderick W. and Josephine Minty, and his daughter-in-law Brooke Morelli (William) and grandson Harley.

Melvin Magnuson, formerly of Lomond and Vulcan, passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary, AB on May 23, 2019 at the age of 97 years.

Mel was born on February 20, 1922 at Lomond, Alberta to Ingvald and Tillie Magnuson. He, along with his siblings, were raised on the farm near Armada, AB. Mel married Edna (Brown) in 1944 and they purchased his Uncle John’s farm next to his father’s farm and they enjoyed raising grain crops and livestock.

McAuley, Ronald “Ron” Neal, of Lomond, beloved husband of Janet, passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on May 8, 2019 at the age of 82 years.

Ron was born in Edmonton, AB on December 7, 1936 to Donald and Bertha McAuley. He was their only child. His early years were spent in many areas of Alberta due to his fathers service in the Army during the second World War. His early education was in the Crowsnest Pass, Medicine Hat and Nordegg, until his father was discharged from his service in the Army. They then settled in Rocky

Velma Audrey Miller, of Vulcan, was called home to her Lord and Savior on May 12, 2019 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre, at the age of 89 years.

Velma was born on February 9, 1930 in Saint John, New Brunswick. She was the youngest of three children born to Leland and Grace Ryder. In 1955 Velma married David Miller. They had two children, Peter David and Grace Kimberley. The family moved to Calgary in 1968 and the Berrywater district in 1992.

Velma and Dave were a match made in heaven. They especially loved to dance and they were amazing to watch.

The family of Bernard Bexte are saddened to announce his sudden passing near Vulcan on April 30, 2019 at the age of 54 years.

Nelson, Ethel Blanche, wife of the late Kenneth Nelson, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the age of 92 years.

Ethel is survived by her daughters Connie (Ward) Knight, Yvonne (Gordon) Lyon and Nancy Graham, five grandchildren – Leslie (Rod) Lahd, Darrel (Michelle) Knight, Kandy Lyon (Randy), Kris Boivin (Miranda) and Kim (Heather) Boivin, great grandchildren Natasha, Rory, Carter, Terrin, Emma, Rylan and Camden. She was predeceased by her grandson Kurt Lyon, husband Ken Nelson, and sisters and brothers-in-law.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 1 pm at the Vulcan Legion Hall

The Lord called Mary Janet Lorraine (Syme) Hagg to her heavenly home on April 18, 2019 at the age of 94 years.

Lorraine was born at home on the farm near Granum, AB on Oct 9, 1924. After high school she attended Normal School in Calgary and taught at Hollandale, near Granum, and at Alston, near Vulcan. It was while she was teaching at Alston that she met Howard at one of the school dances. They were married in Dec. 1948 and spent most of their married life on the farm west of Champion.
