A farmer, husband, father, grandfather, GG, has gone to continue his farming career elsewhere. Howard Markert passed away peacefully after a brief illness, on January 29, 2021 at the age of 98 years.
Howard was born April 26, 1922, the fifth child born to Addie Marie (Thomas) and Frederick Lawrence Markert. Howard was the last living member of his family.
He is survived by his daughters – Susan (Rick) Reise, Deb (Ray) Berg, son Fred (Barb) Markert, three grandchildren – Kelly (Robin) Berg, Michael (Becca La Forte) Berg, Becky (Jesse) Smith and great grandchildren – Shelby and Paige Berg, Eleanor Smith, and

Everett Robert Conway of Milo, beloved husband of Lorraine, passed away at the Vulcan Extendicare on January 26, 2021 at the age of 84 years.
Everett was born and raised in Deloraine, MB. He moved to Calgary and started working for Canadian Freightways in 1958 where he eventually earned his place in the ‘Million Mile Club’, before retiring in 2001. Everett and Lorraine moved to Milo in 2003 where he enjoyed the country life, until his health started to fail.

Cathrine ‘Cay’ Grant (nee Lucas), of Vulcan, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on January 21, 2021 at the age of 94 years.
Cathrine was born June 21, 1926 in Lomond, Alberta to Thomas and Mary Ellen Lucas. She grew up on the family farm at Armada with her brothers Gordon, Bill and John.
Cay married Alex Grant on October 29, 1947. They raised seven children, twins Don & Doug (June 1949), Bev (March 1951) Rodger (Feb 1952) Karen (Dec 1954), Tom (July 1956) and Patricia (April 1959).

O’Dell Lloyd, of Arrowwood, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Extendicare on January 11, 2021, at the age of 93 years..
O’Dell was born March 29, 1927 in Arrowwood. She was raised and schooled in Arrowwood until, in October of 1948, she married Bill and moved to the farm where they raised their family.
O’Dell was very involved with various organization within the community and was well known and liked by all.
After the children were grown, O’Dell worked at various jobs in the county until she retired in 1992. She moved to Vulcan Extendicare in August of 2019 where she resided until her

Gregory William Scott, of Mossleigh, passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on January 9, 2021 at the age of 68 years.
Greg was born to Marcus “Sonny” and Dorothy Scott on July 18, 1952, in the Holy Cross Hospital, Calgary, AB. He resided on the family farm near Mossleigh and was educated in Mossleigh and Vulcan. He belonged to the 4-H Calf Club, played a little hockey and baseball but mainly his love was airplanes, flying and farming. Of those, flying was his main passion. Pelham, Helen ‘Joyce’, of Calgary (formerly of Vulcan), peacefully passed away at Bow View Manor on December 30, 2020 at the age of 94 years.
The second child of Harry and Flossie Linkletter, Joyce was raised on a mixed farming operation near Summerside, Prince Edward Island, that included dairy cattle, hay, grain and potatoes.

Trevor Ian Hackett of Milo, Alberta, was taken from us so tragically on December 20th, 2020 near Edmonton, at the age of 42 years.
Trevor was always ready to assist others and had a great love for the outdoors. His biggest joy was to be involved in Kenny’s hockey as well as fishing and hunting.

Middleton, Ruby McGregor “Mickey”, of Champion, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on December 10, 2020 at the age of 93 years.
Mickey was born August 30, 1927 at Barons, AB to Charlie and Ina Raaschou. Along with her brother George, they were raised in the Barons/Keho Lake area and attended school at the Barons Consolidated School.
