Smith, Allan Peter, of Vulcan (formerly of Okotoks), passed away at the Vulcan Extendicare on November 1, 2020 at the age of 94 years.
Allan was born in Calgary, AB on July 29th, 1926 and was the son of Stewart Peter Smith and Jean Kilpatrick (Greig). He will be greatly missed by his family.
Allan is survived by his son Donald (Inger) and by his daughter Carol Ray. He is also survived by five Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and three Great Great Grandchildren. Allan was predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara in July 2017, his parents, sister-in-law Patricia and son-in-law Lloyd Ray.

Charles Robert “Charlie” Mingo, of Milo, beloved husband of Joan, passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on October 26, 2020 at the age of 77 years.

Simon, Istvan “Steve”, of Champion, passed away in Calgary on October 22, 2020 at the age of 63 years. He was a loving husband and father and will be forever missed by his family.
Steve is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ildi, daughter Kathy, son A.J., Godchildren Aniko and Allan, nieces Monica and Agi (Daniel), nephews Dom and Attila, and great nephew Bentley.
The family will gather together to honor Steve at a later date.

Elaine Marie Gorzitza of Bow Island, formerly of Red Deer, peacefully passed away at the Bow Island Health Centre on October 3, 2020 at the age of 72 years.
Elaine is survived by her mother Laura Gorzitza of Vulcan, sister Sharon McIntosh of Calgary, brothers Alan (Yvonne) and Kenny, sister-in-law Carol Gorzitza, all of Vulcan, 6 nieces and nephews – Jennifer McIntosh, Michael McIntosh, Steven Gorzitza, Chad Gorzitza, David Gorzitza, Caylee Gorzitza, and numerous extended family. She was predeceased by her brother Darrell in 1990 and her father Walter in 2000.

Allan Keith Haga of Vulcan, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Extendicare on September 11, 2020 at the age of 87 years.
Allan was born June 14, 1933, the 8th child of nine, to Albert and Rose Haga, in Vulcan, AB. He took his schooling in Vulcan and farmed his entire life with his brothers.  Allan was a quiet and gentle soul who enjoyed fishing, hunting and, in earlier years, snowmobiling.

William Edward (Bill) Deitz passed away peacefully on September 8, 2020 at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, Alberta at 86 years of age.

Son of Jack and Hilda (Kjorn) Deitz, Bill was born on October 2, 1933 in Bassano, Alberta and was the baby of the family, with 6 older brothers and sisters.

Growing up in the Milo area, William met Lois Kennedy when she arrived in town to teach with her friend Lucille Thorstenson (who later married Bill’s brother David). They were married on August 16, 1957. They settled in a home on the original Deitz homestead and took up

NORTHCOTT, Janetta (Osler) – July 16, 1921 – August 26, 2020. Having celebrated 99 years of life, Janetta passed into heaven with family at her side.

A farm wife, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she passed with peace and dignity. Married to Harold for 74+ years, Janetta was the second of 3 children, born in Bassano to Bill and Ann (Nettie) Osler, and lived most of her life on her parents’ homestead near Milo, AB.

Kiemele, Leonard Samuel, of Vulcan (formerly of Milo), beloved husband of Irene, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on August 21, 2020 at the age of 83 years.

Leonard was born October 6, 1936 in Bassano, AB to George and Sadie Kiemele, the oldest of 6 children. His siblings were Grace, Irene, Marie, Charlie and Leona. They also had 11 half brothers and sisters from previous marriages.

Leonard received his formal education in Majorville and Milo schools. He was always a hard worker and besides farming at his home, he worked for several neighbors. He and a friend harvested

Chuck passed away peacefully after having the opportunity to said goodbye to all of his loved ones on August 11, 2020.

Chuck was born in Holland on September 17, 1935. He came to Canada when he was just 12 years old and resided in Ontario with his family. He decided to venture to Western Canada with his best friend Raymond at the age of 16. Chuck returned to Ontario before coming back to settle in Alberta with his two brothers, John and Hank. He always had many stories to tell of his road trip from Ontario to Alberta.
