Walker, Douglas Leonard December 31, 1928 – July 5, 2004
It is with deep sadness that the family announce the sudden passing of their husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle and friend at his home in Sylvan Lake on July 5, 2004.
Douglas was born at home in Travers, Alberta on December 31, 1928 to Fred and Helen Walker. He began his own trucking business in 1947 and also undertook odd jobs in the late 40’s early 50’s which brought him to Calgary where he met Paulene Kennay. They were married on June 14, 1952. Gladys Beagle, formerly of Arrowwood, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2004 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 99 years.
Gladys was born December 7, 1904 at Minot, North Dakota to Paul and Rose Norton. In 1903 the Norton family moved to Reid Hill. When Gladys was fifteen years old, they moved to Arrowwood. She attended and finished her school days at New Arrowwood School where she met Don Beagle. In 1929 they were married and they moved onto John Culp’s farm. Henry Dyck of Vulcan passed away Monday, June 14. 2004 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 63 years.
Henry was born January 23, 1941 at Winkler, Manitoba to Peter and Anna Dyck. He lost his mother at an early age and went to work to help support his family. Henry worked at many different jobs, including farming and heavy equipment operator. In 1966 Henry moved to Calgary and worked on a farm southwest of Calgary then at Silverwood Dairy. Helena “Helen” Schierman of Vulcan was called home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 3, 2004 at Vulcan, Alberta at the age of 76 years.
Helen was born in Calgary, Alberta on February 17, 1928 to Adam and Marilis (Rousch) Rausch. She began her formal education at Green Acre school in Carstairs, then around 1935 moved with her grandparents to Calgary and attended Riverside, Bridgeland Cottage and Langevin High schools. Helen married Albert Schierman November 1, 1952 and together operated the family farm. They moved into Vulcan in 1982 where she has continued to reside since.

Peter William “Pete” Sherstabetoff passed away Wednesday May 26, 2004 at Mossleigh, Alberta at the age of 84 years.

Elizabeth Greig “Betty” Johnston, beloved wife of Bob Johnson of Vulcan, Alberta passed away Sunday May 9. 2004 at the Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 76 years.
Betty was born August 6, 1927 in Ottawa, Ontario to John and Jean Barnum. Betty’s father was a civil engineer and worked on project in Southern Ontario and Quebec The family moved with him as he went from one project to another. Robert Henry “Bob” Jones of Champion passed away suddenly at home on Friday May 7, 2004 at the age of 73 years.
Bob was born May 3, 1931 at Turtleford, Saskatchewan to Richard and Ethel Jones.
In 1948 he joined the Royal Canadian Army and began serving his country. In 1950 while traveling through Vancouver on his way to Korea, he met Eileen Elder. He joined the RCAF in late 1951 and in November of 1952 Bob and Eileen were married in Vancouver. Together they traveled around to numerous locations, serving and seeing Canada.
