It is with deep sadness that the family announce the sudden passing of their husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle and friend at his home in Sylvan Lake on July 5, 2004.
Douglas was born at home in Travers, Alberta on December 31, 1928 to Fred and Helen Walker. He began his own trucking business in 1947 and also undertook odd jobs in the late 40’s early 50’s which brought him to Calgary where he met Paulene Kennay. They were married on June 14, 1952. Helena “Helen” Schierman of Vulcan was called home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 3, 2004 at Vulcan, Alberta at the age of 76 years.
Helen was born in Calgary, Alberta on February 17, 1928 to Adam and Marilis (Rousch) Rausch. She began her formal education at Green Acre school in Carstairs, then around 1935 moved with her grandparents to Calgary and attended Riverside, Bridgeland Cottage and Langevin High schools. Helen married Albert Schierman November 1, 1952 and together operated the family farm. They moved into Vulcan in 1982 where she has continued to reside since.
