NORTHCOTT, John Harold 1918 – 2017

John HAROLD NORTHCOTT
July 19, 1918 – July 28, 2017

Born on July 19, Harold Northcott just celebrated 99 full years of life. On July 28, 2017, he passed into heaven. A veteran of World War II, a farmer, a husband and devoted family man, he passed with peace and dignity with his wife of 74+ years, Janetta by his side.

The youngest of 6 children, he was born to Charles and Clara Northcott in a farmhouse near the homestead by Milo, AB. Harold and Janetta lived in Ontario and Southern Alberta while Harold was in the Royal Canadian Air Force in World War II, serving as an airplane mechanic. They moved back to the Northcott homestead near Milo, AB and then to Janetta’s (Osler) family homestead 15 miles away, where they farmed and raised their family of seven children. They continued to live independently on the farm to the ages of 97 and 94 when they relocated to Okotoks and finally to Father Lacombe Care Centre in Calgary.

Harold is survived by his beloved wife, Janetta, his children Alan (Gail), Sharon (Bryant), Art (Darlene), Kathy, Murray (Terri) and daughter-in-law Janice; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his eldest son Darrel and eldest daughter Clara.

Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the Milo Community Hall. Interment O’ Perfect Peace Cemetery, Milo, Alberta.

Tributes in Harold’s memory can be made to Friends of Milo Library (Box 30), Milo and District Fire Association (Box 65, Milo, AB T0L 1L0), or to STARS, 1441 Aviation Park N.E. Box 570 Calgary, AB T2E 8M7.

In the early 1970’s I met Harold and Janetta, and their family, through my friend Darrel. This will be a difficult time but with many blessings of a life well lived.
My thoughts and well wishes are sent to all.
    Love and Hugs,
    Nora Kirkham

My husband Terry, who had the opportunity to meet Harold at Kelly and Justin’s wedding, sends his best.
