Lonnie Lorraine Olive Newman, of Champion, Alberta passed away suddenly 10 kilometers south of Vulcan on Highway 23 on November 1, 2002 at the age of 52 years.
Lonnie was born June 18, 1950 at Brockville, Ontario to John and Cyrilla Newman. She attended many schools and finished her schooling in Kingston, Ontario. Lonnie married Mark Foley and from their union a son was born. Soon after she divorced and moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1977 to work as a legal assistant for a few years. She then began working at numerous jobs, including Trout Unlimited. In 1990 she met Bill Herington and began their lives together. They moved to Champion in 1998 where they have resided since.
Lonnie had a passion for animals. She loved her four Shih Tzu dogs and two cats. She also enjoyed cross stitching, and the peace and quiet of a rural setting.
She is survived by her loving husband Bill of Champion, her son Christopher (Caroline) Foley of Fort Collins, Colorado, her father John E. Newman, a sister Charlene (Allen) Whale, a brother John (Darlene) Newman, numerous nieces and nephews all of Ottawa, Ontario.
Lonnie was predeceased by her mother in 1991.
Memorial Service Saturday November 9, 2002 at the Champion Congregational Church at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Wayne Lee officiating.
