Nadobny, Kenneth Wayne, of Vulcan, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on April 28, 2017 at the age of 81 years.
Ken was born in Sudbury, Ontario on November 24, 1935. His family later settled in Renfrew. At the age of 21, Ken left home and headed west. He eventually ended up in the Vulcan area where he met and married Carol Elaine Lerohl, on Sept 12, 1961 in Kemmer, Wyoming. They returned to Ontario and lived in Ottawa and then Renfrew. In 1964 they returned to Vulcan where Ken has resided since.
Ken worked for the Department of Highways for 31 years. He loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing and camping at Badger Lake and Dutch Creek, and his annual trips to the hunting camp. Ken was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Vulcan Fish and Game Association. Ken was known for his legendary sense of humor and positive attitude. He always had time for a chat as he toured the town on his scooter. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was always ready for a game of crib with friends.
Ken is survived by his daughters Ann (Gord) Rupp of Champion and Sandy (Dwayne) Haga of Medicine Hat, son Ken Nadobny of Strathmore, grandchildren Amy (Jason) Tiegen, Alex (Dustin) Daub, Kennedy, Samantha and David Rupp, Jamie, Nolan and Shelby Haga, Dana and Cody Davies, great grandchildren Draydin and Trenton Davies, Owen and Raegan Daub and Rhett Tiegen, sister-in-law Dianne Lerohl, sisters Shirley Greer, Mary (Evans) Thrasher and brothers John and Bernie Nadobny and families. Ken was predeceased by his parents Jack and Gertrude Nadobny, brother Tony, and wife Carol.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 5, 2017 at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Vulcan, AB (330 – 1 St. South, Vulcan) at 1:00 pm. with Fr. Tim Boyle Celebrant.

Ken was a friend to all, adults or kid’s, his sense of humor and smile made him your friend without to many words spoken. He was first to help you out and last to leave when there was problem, as an honoured friend of Ken’s, I will miss him always and the world is a sadder place without him. Go Rest my friend.
