NADOBNY, Carol Elaine 1942-2011

Carol Elaine Nadobny was born on August 11, 1942 in Lethbridge, Alberta. She moved from Picture Butte to Vulcan with her family in 1945. Carol married Ken Nadobny on September 12, 1961 in Kemmer, Wyoming. They lived in Ottawa and then Renfrew, Ontario until 1964 when they returned to Vulcan.

Carol loved to work in the greenhouse Ken built for her and thoroughly enjoyed growing her tomatoes and cucumbers each year. She loved to read and also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She often had a table at the Vulcan Craft Fair where her doilies, dishcloths and Barbie clothes were very popular. Carol loved to have coffee downtown with friends, where the odd bingo trip to Lethbridge was planned. She also enjoyed the hours she spent volunteering at the hospital tuck shop.

Family was everything to Carol, especially her grandchildren. She could often be found cheering them on at their many karate matches, hockey, baseball, football and soccer games. The kids loved to stop in for a visit in anticipation of being offered a “freezie”, a bologna sandwich or a bowl of “Grandma’s” macaroni. And at Christmas, fudge, toffee or a piece of our family favourite lefse could always be found.

Carol is survived by her loving husband Ken, daughters Ann (Gord) Rupp of Champion and Sandy (Dwayne) Haga of Medicine Hat, son Ken (Chris) Nadobny of Strathmore, grandchildren Amy, Alex, Kennedy, Samantha and David Rupp, Jamie, Nolan and Shelby Haga, Dana and Cody Davies, great grandson Draydin Davies, sisters-in-law Dianne Lerohl, Shirley (Jim) Greer, Mary (Evans) Thrasher and brothers-in-law John (Deb) Nadobny and Bernie Nadobny and their families.

Carol was predeceased by her parents Orville and Adeline Lerohl in 1986 and her brother Roy Lerohl in 2008.
