MUNRO, EVAN WILLIAM, PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY AT HIS HOME IN VULCAN, ALBERTA NOVEMBER 23, 1991 AT THE AGE OF 71 YEARS.

EVAN WAS BORN APRIL 25, 1920 AT HANNA, ALBERTA. AT THE AGE OF FIVE, HE MOVED WITH HIS PARENTS WILLIAM AND AGNES MUNRO TO THE FARM WEST OF KIRKCALDY WHERE HE RESIDED UNTIL HE MOVED INTO VULCAN IN 1985.

EVAN WAS A QUIET, LOVING PATIENT FATHER AND A COMMUNITY MINDED PERSON. HE JOINED THE VULCAN LIONS CLUB IN 1951 AND SERVED AS PRESIDENT, ZONE CHAIRMAN AND DISTRICT DEPUTY GOVERNOR. HE JOINED THE MASONIC LODGE IN 1954 AND WAS PAST MASTER. HE WAS SECRETARY TREASURER OF THE SCOUT GUIDE COMMITTEE FOR MANY YEARS AND ALSO OF THE SOUTHWEST MUTUAL TELEPHONE CO. HE WAS AN ELDER OF THE UNITED CHURCH AND CLERK OF SESSION THERE FOR SEVERAL YEARS. HE ALSO WORKED ON THE VULCAN HISTORY BOOK II COMMITTEE. HE WAS AN AVID CURLER AND PAST PRESIDENT OF THE VULCAN CURLING CLUB.

EVAN WAS A FAMILIAR FACE ON COFFEE ROW UNTIL THE PAST TWO YEARS. HE ALWAYS HAD TIME FOR A CUP OF COFFEE AND A VISIT WITH A FRIEND. HE HAD FAITH IN THE VULCAN AREA AND APPRECIATED ALL THE LOVE AND SUPPORT HE RECEIVED OVER THE PAST YEARS.

HE IS SURVIVED AND WILL BE MISSED BY HIS LOVING WIFE ROSE MUNRO, A DAUGHTER SHARON (GREG) FULLER OF CALGARY, TWO SONS DAVID AND HIS WIFE TRACY OF VULCAN AND DUANE OF CALGARY, FIVE GRANDCHILDREN – JASON, SCOTT OF CALGARY, PAMELA, CHAD AND HEATHER OF VULCAN AND HIS SISTER MARION KETTLESON OF CALGARY, A SPECIAL COUSIN ARTHUR JONES OF VULCAN WHO LIVED WITH THE MUNRO’S FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS AND MANY OTHER CLOSE RELATIVES AND FRIENDS.

FUNERAL SERVICE THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 1991 AT 1:30 P.M. AT VULCAN UNITED CHURCH WITH REV. BEVERLY HILL OFFICIATING. INTERMENT VULCAN CEMETERY.
