Vernon “Vern” Stanley Mossing passed away peacefully on November 12, 2007 at his home at the age of 78 years.
Vern was born and raised on a farm near Bengough, Saskatchewan on January 14, 1929 to Emil and Evalina Mossing. Vern moved to Alberta where he began his career in road construction. He married Margaret Fox of Hardy, Saskatchewan in 1956. Together they had five children. They later divorced and Vern met and married Helen Stephenson. Together they had one child.
Vern was always happy to volunteer his time and talents, whether it was playing for seniors, fixing things or creating unique plaques, picture frames, puzzles or furniture. He was a compassionate and fiercely independent man with a great sense of humor and integrity. All those who knew Vern admired his patience which he exhibited when teaching others to play guitar, learn magic tricks or when he meticulously crafted scale models of stage coaches, various wagons and buggies. He was extremely proud of his Norwegian heritage. Vern was a good husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
Vern loved nature and enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a member of the Fish and Game Association for many years. Music was Vern’s passion and he was a perfectionist when it came to exact timing. He had composed several pieces music. Sharing his music, whether it was playing for old time dances, entertaining seniors or participating in a jam session with other musicians brought great joy to Vern.
