Morley, Eric Claude, of Vulcan, passed away peacefully at the Vulcan Community Health Centre May 31, 2016 at the age of 87 years.
Eric was born September 5, 1928 in Georgeville, Ontario to George and Doris Morley. He took his schooling in Georgeville and Grade 7 in Morton, ON. In the early days, Eric worked at the Steel Factory making propane tank ends, then worked at a lumber camp near Napanee where he had his own team of horses. In 1947, Eric came west on a Harvest Excursion and in 1948 he came to Carmangay where he worked for Mrs. McFarland. Over the years, Eric worked in the Ensign area for George Churchill, Henry Hansen, David Hansen, E.K. Brown, Vernal Haga and at the King Ranch. In 1960, he left to go to Duchess to work at a Dairy Farm and Irrigation. He returned to the Vulcan area in 1971 and worked for Dr. Fred Schneider for the next 24 years.
Eric was a strong man for all his life and was always a quick study wherever he worked. He always studied a project, then began working on it with a lot of thought in order to accomplish the goal.
Eric is survived by two sisters – Lillian Stevenson of Ontario and Lorraine Williams of Grande Prairie, AB, numerous nieces and nephews and good friends.
He was predeceased by his parents George and Doris Morley, a sister – June Andress, 4 brothers – Ted, Cyril, Carl and Courtney Morley.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 1:30 pm at Vulcan Evangelical Missionary Church (529 Centre Street), Pastor Peter Campbell officiating. Interment Vulcan Cemetery.
