MOORE, Samuel James “Sam”   1920 – 1995

SAMUEL JAMES “SAM” MOORE PASSED AWAY AT VULCAN GENERAL HOSPITAL ON TUESDAY JULY 25, 1995.

SAM WAS BORN FEBRUARY 3, 1920 AT PRINCE ALBERT, SASKATCHEWAN, WHERE HE ATTENDED SCHOOL. HE MARRIED DORIS JOSEPHINE CRERAR IN AUGUST OF 1949 AT NORTH BATTLEFORD, SASKATCHEWAN WHERE SAM WAS EMPLOYED WITH THE CANADIAN NATIONAL RAILROAD. IN 1956 THEY MOVED TO DIDSBURY AND PURCHASED SHARES IN HIS BROTHER-IN-LAW’S FORD AND JOHN DEERE BUSINESS. IN 1970 HE SOLD HIS PORTION AND CAME TO VULCAN WHERE HE PURCHASED A PORTION OF THE FORD AND CASE DEALERSHIP WITH NORM PETTY. LATER THEY SOLD THAT BUSINESS AND SAM CONTINUED TO INVEST IN THE COMMUNITY WITH THE PURCHASES OF LAND AND DEVELOPMENT OF COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS.

SAM SERVED DURING WORLD WAR TWO AND WAS A MEMBER OF THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BRANCH #21 VULCAN. HE WAS ALSO AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE VULCAN LIONS CLUB AND THE VULCAN AND DISTRICT GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB. SAM HAS PLAYED GOLF SINCE THE AGE OF THIRTEEN.

BESIDES HIS LOVING WIFE DORIS, HE LEAVES TO CELEBRATE HIS LIFE A SON BILL AND SUZANNE OF CALGARY, A DAUGHTER LOUISE AND GORDON SCHEURMAN, THEIR GIRLS JAMIE AND KIMBERLEY OF LETHBRIDGE, THREE SISTERS KAY STOCKMAN OF KITIMAT, GRACE AND VINCE RAWLINS OF RED DEER, MURIEL AND BILL COWAN OF DIDSBURY, NUMEROUS NIECES, NEPHEWS, OTHER RELATIVES, SPECIAL FRIENDS PETE AND MOE PICKERSGILL AND MANY MORE.

SAM WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS SISTER EVELYN BURT, FATHER SAMUEL AND MOTHER FRANCES.

WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN IN REMEMBERING SAM ON MONDAY JULY 31, 1995 AT 2 P.M. AT VULCAN UNITED CHURCH WITH REV. MARTIN LYNAS OFFICIATING.

WE THANK DR. LEN WADE AND THE STAFF AT THE VULCAN GENERAL HOSPITAL FOR THEIR CARE AND SUPPORT.
