McAuley, Ronald “Ron” Neal, of Lomond, beloved husband of Janet, passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on May 8, 2019 at the age of 82 years.
Ron was born in Edmonton, AB on December 7, 1936 to Donald and Bertha McAuley. He was their only child. His early years were spent in many areas of Alberta due to his fathers service in the Army during the second World War. His early education was in the Crowsnest Pass, Medicine Hat and Nordegg, until his father was discharged from his service in the Army. They then settled in Rocky Mountain House, AB where he finished his education.
He worked as a carpenter until he met his future wife, Janet Smith, in the summer of 1958. They married on October 7, 1961 in Rocky Mountain House and they have four children – Cheryl (June 17, 1962), Patricia (May 1, 1965), Darryl (November 20, 1966) and Gina (April 2, 1968).
His wife Janet encouraged him to become a Licenced Mechanic as he was always working on his or someone else’s car, which he enjoyed doing. He then furthered his education at SAIT University in Calgary, AB where he became a Licenced Mechanic. He worked in a garage in Rimbey, AB until moving to the Lomond area in 1976. He worked at different jobs until he retired due to health reasons.
Due to failing health, Ron had been living in the Long Term Care Unit in Vulcan, AB since December 30, 2016 where he enjoyed helping the ladies in the garden, going on outings and teasing and joking with the staff, until his passing on May 8, 2019.
He will be missed by all who knew him and will always be remembered and loved by his family…….

He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Bertha McAuley.
A Family Graveside Service and Interment was held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the Lomond Cemetery.
