Janet Evangeline McAuley, of Lomond, passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on November 8, 2023 at the age of 87 years.
Janet was born June 2, 1936 to Eunice and Harris Smith in Innisfail, AB. She was the oldest of four children. She grew up on a farm outside of Rocky Mountain House and she attended a one room school house just down the road from home. As she grew up, there were many adventures with the family – times at the Saw Mill with family, picnics and berry picking with her mom. She babysat for family members, when she was in her teens and she baby sat for a young couple that lived on the Air force base out side of Red Deer (Penhold).
She met her future husband Ron, through her brother Ronald in the summer of 1958. They were married October 7, 1961 in Rocky Mountain House. They settled down to raise their family in Rimbey, AB then in 1976 they moved to Lomond to raise their family of four children – Cheryl (June17,1962), Patricia (May 1, 1965), Darryl (November 20, 1966) and Gina (April 2, 1968).
She will be missed by all who knew her and always remembered by her family.

She was predeceased by her husband Ronald, parents Eunice and Harris Smith, a brother Ronald Smith, sister-in-law Joanne, brother-in-law Frankie and a grandson-in-law Joey.
A Family Graveside Service and Interment, with Pastor David Sarsons will take place at the Lomond Cemetery, Lomond, Alberta.
