Massie, John Gordon formerly of Carmangay, Alberta passed away at Vulcan Extendicare December 21, 2002 in his 79th year.

Gordon was born August 17, 1924 at Midnapore, Alberta to James and Elizbeth Massie. He worked in sales for the General Motors Company in 1972 and 1973 received Exemplary Salesmen’s award. He retired in 1977.

Gordon loved his family and community. He served as Mayor of Carmangay for several terms although he was a private person he believed in doing what was right and getting things done.

Gordon was predeceased by his lifemate Phyllis in 2001and a son Dana in 1975.

He is survived by a son Gene of Carmangay, daughter Lynda Kolbeins of Coquitlam, B.C., a grandson Courtney Tuckwood of Surrey, B.C., great granddaughters Ashley and Brittney, brother Keith of Chilliwack, sister Ethel Bishop of Vancouver, B.C., numerous nieces and nephews in Alberta and B.C.

Cremation has taken place and at Gordon’s request a Private family gathering will be held at a later date.
