Darrell Maronda of Lomond, beloved husband of Joyce, passed away at Vulcan Extendicare on August 24, 2022 at the age of 82 years. Darrell was born August 2, 1940 to Fred and Viola Maronda in Vulcan, AB.
Darrell is survived by his wife Joyce and daughters Shelley Maronda, Cheryl Blanchette and Grandchildren Bailey, Morgan and Michael. Darrell also had four great grandchildren Warren, Isiah, Trinity and Marley. Darrell was predeceased by his parents Fred and Viola, Shelley’s partner Jim McKay, brother Ron, sister Donna Ray Teasdale and son Warren Maronda.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Sept. 2, 2022 at 2 pm at the Lomond School Gymnasium.

Sending sincere condolences to your family on behalf of my family. Although I didn’t know Darrell personally I remember when Dad coached hockey in Lomond that Joyce and Darrell were always at the Arena pitching in. May you be comforted by your many fond memories.

My sincere sympathy goes out to you and to your whole family on Darrell’s recent passing. While this will be a sad time for you, Darrell’s life over the past few years has not been especially pleasant or hopeful, and personally I feel he would be quite glad to move on to his next great adventure.
Because of the age difference and a lack of common interests my cousin and I were never close, but I admired Darrell for his work ethic, his “devil may care” attitude, his ability to both work hard AND play hard, and his skill as a cattleman.
Darrell would have no interest in playing a harp or singing with the angels, but I think he would be quite happy to break broncs for St. Peter and eternally ride across that big range in the sky. I find it really hard to believe that he is gone … but like so many I have good memories of Darrell. Know that my thoughts are with you all! Marvin
