Freeda Maxine Maisey died January 2, 2004 at the age of 94 years, at the Vulcan Community Health Centre.

Freeda was born February 20, 1909 in Garwin, Iowa to Herman and Shada Dunbar. In 1917 Freeda, her parents, two sisters and two brothers came to Canada by train so her father could work for Frank Maiden. She attended Thigh Hill, Harvey and Vulcan schools. In 1923 the family returned to the United States. Because of a bad investment, the family returned to Alberta to work on the Maiden farm.

Freeda married Bert Maisey in 1928. They lived in Kirkcaldy and farmed land around the hamlet. These were trying times for they farmed with horses and wheat prices were low. Freeda and Bert spent many good years together. In August, 1993 Bert passed away and Freeda moved into the Peter Dawson Lodge where she resided until moving into the Long Term Care Unit of the Vulcan Community Health Centre in November, 2001 until her passing.

Freeda was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Ferrodale Chapter No. 65. She was also active in the Kirkcaldy Women’s Institute and served as Constituency Convenor of that organization for six years. Freeda also worked for the Vulcan Ladies Rest Room and was secretary-treasurer for twelve years.

Loving mother of a son Darrel (May) and grandchildren Murray (Sherry) and Suzanne all of Lethbridge.

Freeda was predeceased by her husband in 1993 and her parents.
