Wendy MacKenzie
January 10 1959-April 5 2023
The family of Wendy MacKenzie of Vulcan are saddened to announce her passing at Calgary South Campus on April 5, 2023 at the age of 64 years.
Wendy and Taxi MacKenzie lived at Bassano and Dorothy before moving back to the farm at Milo in 1994 and after that, moved to Vulcan, AB. Wendy attended her schooling from grade 1 until grade 9 in Milo and eventually finished her studies in Vulcan. In 1998, she took on the responsibility of her grand-daughter Star.
Wendy worked at Market Street Foods in Vulcan for 17 years where she was well known for her quick sense of humour. She had a huge passion for animals, especially horses. She also learned to tap dance from Dene Gooch. Other passions that Wendy loved was leather artwork when she was younger, puzzles, reading and many more. Wendy and her husband Taxi participated in many parades including the Calgary Stampede where she rode a mule and Taxi rode his bull.
One memory was, as Wendy was the youngest, she was often on the receiving end of her siblings’ antics such as being pushed down the road in the baby carriage and the outcome was not a very happy one. Another memory that her siblings have was Wendy being bugged by the geese by them pulling on her diaper while her siblings were trying to have their fun without the baby following them.
When Wendy had passed away, she was surrounded by loved ones. The family would like to say thank you to Brianna and Star for being by her side. She will be forever missed by her husband Taxi, children Heather (Trevor), Pamela and Vern, 6 grandchildren, sisters Dorothy Way, Margaret Howell, Shirley Vair and Betty (Tom) Nelson, and extended family.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 1 pm at the Milo Community Hall, Sue MacDonald, D.M. officiating. Interment O’ Perfect Peace Cemetery.
