Alberta was born in Vulcan to Abram and Maria Schenk on November 8, 1924. She attended school until Grade 8 in Vulcan. Alberta married John Locken in 1946 and they lived in various locations before moving back to Vulcan in 1961. Her Auxiliary hours included extraordinary knitting, bake sales, garage sales, crafts and taking her turn working in the “Helping Hands” Tuck Shoppe at the Vulcan Hospital. It’s believed that Alberta contributed approximately 50 afghans to the Auxiliary over the years.
