Elizabeth Emma Anna Lee of Vulcan, Alberta passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at the Vulcan Extendicare at the age of 95 years.
Elizabeth was born December 7, 1908 at Edam, Saskatchewan to Abraham and Ida Wouters. She was the oldest of six children. Elizabeth left school at the end of Grade 10 to help on the farm. She then went to work in a store for twelve years until her marriage. Elizabeth started studying music when she was eight years old and passed her exams as an associate of The London College of Music and then as a licentiate of the London College of Music.
Elizabeth married Eric Hammond Lee in 1938. They moved to Ottawa and lived there for 32 years. Eric died in 1974 and Elizabeth moved to Vulcan in October, 1976 to be closer to her son David who was teaching school.
Elizabeth played the piano and organ at the Vulcan United Church for many years. She also sang alto in the choir. Elizabeth enjoyed playing for the residents of Extendicare and Peter Dawson Lodge. She loved to knit and sew. Elizabeth worked for the Salvation Army.
Loving mother of a son David (Lynda) of Cold Lake, two grandchildren Sandra (David) Storoschuk of Bonnyville and Paul (Laurie) of Edmonton, a brother Bill Wouters of North Battleford, Saskatchewan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Eric, her parents, three brothers and their wives Art (Muriel), Cornelious “Carney” ( Aleda) , John (Gladys), a sister Eleanor Wouters and a sister-in-law Florence Wouters.
Memorial service Friday September 24, 2004 at 1:15 p.m. at the Vulcan United Church with Sue McDonald D.M. officiating.
Inurnment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
