LEADBEATER, Gordon Melvin 1937 – 2013
Mavis, Lisa and Jane and families
So sad to hear about Gordon. Having known the family for over 15 years, I liked and appreciated you all. I can see there were many others that thought a lot of Gordon and family too
My heart goes out to Auntie Mavis, Jane, Lisa and the extended Leadbeater family.
My uncle Gordon was so much more than that to me. He was the strongest father figure I ever had, especially after the loss of my own father. He instilled in me a strong work ethic, a strong sense of honour and fairness. The wisdom of his humour often pointed out the obvious which goes overlooked too many times nowadays:
Jim: “I better go put a tarp over the boat before it rains.”
Gordon: “It sat out for 50 years. What difference is another day gonna make?”
Common sense and kindness were the currency of Gordon’s life. Wisdom and a re-affirmed faith in humanity are the legacy of his passing that I will cherish until I “cash my cheque”.
Rest easy my mentor, my friend. You left me some of the tools I need but I will miss you.
It is with sadness and joyful remembrance that we heard of Gordon’s death. He was a truly good man , a most favourite uncle and great uncle. Our thoughts are with Auntie Mavis, Jane and Lisa.
In sympathy,
Kelly, Alex and Graeme.
I am very sad. Gordon was one of the best men I have ever known. Always made me laugh. Always generous with help.
Gordon, you can call me Ducky if you want.
Mavis and family – our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Frank, Agnes & family
Mavis, Jane and Lisa –
I am so sorry about Gordon. I loved spending time with all of you back in the days of High School and living in Calgary with the girls. I always thought so much of you and Gordon. He will be missed but never forgotten. Love and Light to all of you.
