EVA KSENYCH OF CHAMPION PASSED AWAY AUGUST 28, 2000 AT VULCAN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE AT THE AGE OF 75 YEARS.
EVA WAS BORN MARCH 19, 1925 TO DUMITRU AND ECATERINA VILCU ON THE FARM NEAR DYSART, SASKATCHEWAN WHERE SHE ATTENDED SCHOOL. IN 1945 THE FAMILY MOVED TO THE HUNTOON DISTRICT WHERE SHE MET JOHN KSENYCH. THEY WERE MARRIED IN NOVEMBER OF 1947 AT THE ROMAN AND MARY KSENYCH FAMILY FARM NEAR INNIS, SASKATCHEWAN. THEY RESIDED AT INNIS AND OPERATED A MERCANTILE STORE. IN 1951 THEY MOVED TO THE GRASSDALE DISTRICT SOUTH WEST OF WEYBURN, TO FARM UNTIL 1954 WHEN THEY MOVED TO OPERATE THE J & E GROCERY STORE AND LATER A CLOTHING STORE AT LUMBY, B.C. THEY MOVED TO PENTICTON IN 1960 AND TO KELOWNA IN 1965 WHERE EVA WORKED AS A WAITRESS. IN 1967 THEY MOVED TO VULCAN TO OPERATE CHINOOK FARM EQUIPMENT , EVA WORKED AT BLUNT’S NURSING HOME. THEY MOVED TO THE FARM NEAR CHAMPION IN 1973. JOHN PASSED AWAY IN 1976 AND FOR FIVE WINTERS EVA WORKED AT THE ARENA CONCESSION. WITH THE HELP OF HER CHILDREN EVA OPERATED THE FARM UNTIL 1980 AND WORKED FIFTEEN YEARS AT SUZANNE’S FABRIC STORE. SHE CONTINUED LIVING ON THE FARM UNTIL MOVING INTO VULCAN IN AUGUST OF THIS YEAR.
EVA LOVED HER CHILDREN, GRANDCHILDREN AND GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. SHE WAS PASSIONATE ABOUT PLAYING CARDS, NEEDLE CRAFT, SEWING OR ANYTHING TO DO WITH FABRIC AND TRAVELLING, SHE ENJOYED THE OCCASIONAL TRIP TO VEGAS.
SHE HAD A GREEN THUMB FOR GARDENING THAT OFTEN PRODUCED AN ABUNDANT YIELD WHICH WAS SHARED BY MANY. EVA WAS A DETERMINED, KIND HEARTED PERSON WHO HELD FAMILY AND FRIENDSHIP CLOSE TO HER HEART. EVA’S FAVOURITE SAYING WAS “WHAT EVER”.SHE WILL BE SADLY MISSED BY HER FAMILY AND MANY CLOSE FRIENDS.
BELOVED MOTHER OF THREE DAUGHTERS JUDY (CAL) ELLINGSON OF DIDSBURY, SHEILA (CAM) GALLAGHER OF VULCAN, SHELLEY ROGERS OF YELLOWKNIFE, TWO SONS LEONARD OF CHAMPION AND JOHN (KAREN) OF WISCONSIN, NINE GRANDCHILDREN, FIVE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, TWO SISTERS HELEN (WALTON) EDDY AND ANNE FRANK, FIVE BROTHERS GEORGE (ELSIE) DAN (MARY), NICK, JOHN (MARY), JACK (ELSIE), NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.
EVA WAS PREDECEASED BY HER HUSBAND JOHN IN 1976, A GRANDSON CHAD SAMOISETTE IN 1996, A DAUGHTER OPAL IN 1954, A SISTER MARY (GEORGE) TOPAL, AND HER PARENTS.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE WAS HELD THURSDAY AUGUST 31, 2000 AT 1:30 P.M. AT CHAMPION CONGREGATION CHURCH WITH PASTOR WAYNE LEE OFFICIATING.
