Janis “John” Kokaritis passed away at his home in Vulcan, Alberta April 12, 2005 following a lengthy illness at the age of 91 years.
John was born at Dugaupils, Latvia on July 21, 1913 to Joseph and Veronica Kokaritis. He moved to England after the second world war. Where attended night school to study civil engineering and carpentry, to be able to join the union. He moved to Montreal, Quebec in 1957 and worked his way across Canada, to Calgary, Milo and finally to Vulcan were he has resided since 1988. John married Janina Mukans October 8, 1941in Latvia.
Besides his loving wife Janina John is survive by a son Arvids “John” Kokaritis and his partner Joy of Richmond, B.C, two grandchildren Peter (Teri) Kokaritis of Calgary and Angel (Gavin) Willimont of High River, four great grandchildren Justin,(Carlie), Lindsay and Shane, numerous nieces and nephews in Latvia.
John was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
A private family service was held in Vulcan April 15, 2005.
Inurnment in the family cemetery at Kalupes Pag., Latvia at a later date.
