Frances May Kehr passed away February 14, 2011 at Carmangay Auxiliary at the age of 94 years.
Beloved wife of Stanley Kehr of Vulcan, loving mother of daughter Susan of Calgary and son Warren (Joan) of Hinton, Alberta; brother Jack (Irene) Cole of Red Deer; Sister-in-law Mildred Cole of Calgary; brother-in-law Max (Betty) Kehr of Vulcan; numerous nieces and nephews.
Frances was predeceased by her parents, sister Josephine (Floyd) Cary, three brothers Bill (Bea) Cole, Dale (Helen) Cole, LaVerne Cole, and sister-in-law Marjorie (Gerry) Geddes.
Frances was born May 9, 1916 at Alderson, Alberta to Bert and Mable Cole. She received her schooling at Carseland, Alberta and completed a three year registered nursing program at the Calgary General Hospital in 1940. Following graduation Frances worked at the Vulcan Hospital. On June 22, 1945 she married Stanley Kehr in her parents home in Carseland. From 1945 till 1951 she lived in Vulcan, worked at the Vulcan hospital, and worked privately for Dr. Carsen.
In 1951 she moved to the family farm where she assisted with the daily operations. Frances enjoyed hauling grain, gardening, mowing grass, planting trees and took great pride in their yard and orchard. For several years she cleaned and sold eggs to assist with expenses at home. In 1966 Frances returned to nursing part time in the new hospital and continued driving grain truck until she turned eighty. In 2006 she moved into the Little Bow Continuing Care Center where she resided till her passing.
Frances also enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting, playing cards, games, dancing, eating out and camping in their motor home. She was very active in the community having a strong involvement with the Sunshine Group, Red Cross, and her church. The time spent with these organizations were of great importance to her.
Funeral Service Thursday February 17, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Vulcan Church of Christ with Pastor Doug Barrie officiating.
Interment Vulcan Cemetery.
Casket bearers Chris Irwin, Barry Cole, Tom Cole, Morgan Kehr, Malcolm Kehr, and Harold Mcllwain.
