JAQUISH, Ian McLeod 1951 – 2025

It is with profound sadness that the family of Ian McLeod Jaquish of Vulcan, Alberta announces his sudden passing at home on January 2, 2025, at the age of 73 years.

Ian was born June 29, 1951, at Calgary, Alberta. He was raised in Calgary and educated at Crescent Heights High School.

Ian’s early years were spent exploring the undeveloped fields of northeast Calgary with friends.  He particularly enjoyed spending time camping throughout western Canada with his family.  Much of his leisure time was spent playing baseball and hockey where he played on several city and provincial championship teams.  He developed an early love of automotives and auto racing.  He ventured throughout North America attending major racing events and loved to share his films, experiences and stories with friends.

After high school, Ian’s love of automotives lead him to become a licensed automotive mechanic.  He worked at several automotive shops in and around Calgary.  His later years saw him move into the field of building construction and maintenance with Sebring Construction.

Ian’s primary hobbies were studying history, particularly World War one and two military history.  He was an avid collector of military literature, movies and memorabilia.

Ian is survived by his brothers Barry (Mary Tremayne) and Kevin, and numerous loving cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Roderick and Vera Jaquish, and brother Roderick Hugh Jaquish.

A gathering of family and friends will take place later this year.

Any tributes in Ian’s memory can be made on the Vulcan Funeral Home website and Facebook Page.
