Roseann Laura Howg, beloved wife of Floyd Howg of Lomond passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 91 years.
Roseann was born in Brownfield , Alberta on July 11, 1910, one of eight children. Rose will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Floyd and their children Leroy (Ann) Branden of Vulcan, Gordon (Carol) Howg of Lomond, Robert (Carla) Howg of Phoenix and Linda (John) Klemenz of Calgary, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brother Henry Kisch of Fort St. John, B.C., two sisters-in-law Merliene (Henry) Haugen of Camrose and Ruth Severtson of Innisfail, numerous nieces and nephews.
Rose and Floyd lived on the farm at Lomond, during that time she drove school bus for eighteen years moving to Calgary in 1968 .While living in Calgary Rose worked part time at Heritage Park where her homemade cookies were a hit with both visitors and staff.
Returning to the farm at Lomond in 1975, Rose enjoyed having a brand new home and quickly added chokecherry bushes for her homemade jams and jellies.
Rose’s passions were sewing and quilting, gardening, playing cards, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially loved children and enjoyed making her baby quilts for friends and family.
Due to failing health, Rose has resided at Piyami Lodge in Picture Butte for the past three years where she was able to continue sewing and quilting making beautiful baby quilts, cushions and wall hangings, keeping the Lodge staff and residents entertained with her projects.
Rose was a member of the Enchant Community Club for several years.
Rose was predeceased by her parents Martha and George Kisch, her first husband Leonard Branden, four brothers, three sisters, three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
Funeral Service Saturday August 25, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Enchant Community Hall with Rev. Ed Summers officiating.
Interment Enchant Cemetery.
Honorary bearers were all her friends and family.
Casket bearers were Wayne Biette, Ronald Branden, Danny Branden, Lonnie Howg, Joel Haugen and Ken Severtson.
