Howe, Stanley ‘Stan’ Richard 1941 – 2021

Stanley “Stan” Richard Howe of Champion, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital, Lethbridge, AB on May 29, 2021 at the age of 80 years.

Stan was born January 21, 1941 in Carmangay, AB to Dick and Linda Howe. Stan went to school in Champion and began farming at a young age and became a way of life that he loved. He met and married Bev Decker in 1963 and together they raised a family of four on the family farm.

Besides keeping up with his children and grandchildren’s activities, Stan enjoyed trap shooting and golf and met many great friends over the years while enjoying these pastimes. Thanks to Bev, Stan learned to love to travel, going on numerous trips with friends throughout the years as well as going South to Arizona for the winter where he was still able to trap-shoot and golf in the warm weather. Stan was very sociable and enjoyed visiting with family, friends, neighbors and those he just met. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Stan is survived by his children – Rick (Kathy) Howe of Champion, Lori Howe of Lethbridge, Scott (Kim) Howe of Champion and Lee Ann (Robert Kruger) Howe of Lethbridge, eleven grandchildren – Jadeen (Cole) Umscheid, Austin (Brittany) and Shyler Howe, Shyanne Howe-Chambers and Brooke Howe-Chambers, Brett (Shania) Howe, Kyle (Kaylin) Howe, Megan and Ashley Howe, Blade and Peyton Kruger, one great grandson Trae Howe, brothers-in-law Don Decker, Gordon (Eleanor) Decker and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Stan was predeceased by his parents, beloved wife Bev, son-in-law Barry Chambers, brother-in-law Pete Decker, sister-in-law Bev Decker and In-laws Matt and Violet Decker.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at the Champion Cemetery.

All of you have been in our thoughts on the loss of a wonderful dad & grandfather.
We have many memories of Stan – as farming neighbors for years & camping trips as families. Thinking of you as you go through this hard time.

I cannot think of Stan without thinking of Bev. Our family enjoyed many good times with them and with mutual friends, camping in the foothills, skidooing, or travelling together. Trips to the east coast, Alaska, through the Panama Canal, through the mid western states and Disneyland would not have been as enjoyable without the Howes. We shared many adventures and daily activities together. Stan was always agreeable and fun and game to try new things. Stan and Bev: together like peanut butter and jam. One always goes better with the other. Stan shall long be remembered by our family. May Ricki, Lori, Scott and LeeAnn be comforted by family and friends of their hometown who shared in their growing up with parents who were well loved and respected.
