HOWE, Lillian Todd 1932 – 2024

Mum, Oma, Miss Lilly passed away at 92 at the Vulcan Community Health Centre Long Term Care Unit, on Friday, July 26, 2024.

Miss Lilly was born to John and Elizabeth Cannon on March 9, 1932 in Michel, B.C.

It was in Michel that she met her love, Charles Alexander Howe. Dad always said they fell in love at recess. They spent their childhoods together and married in 1950 in Calgary, AB. They spent the following 62 years together. Living in Michel, they welcomed their first two children, Glenn and Garry.

They moved to Rossland, B.C. in 1955, where their family grew by two with the arrival of Gordie and Gail. The family spent many wonderful years enjoying life in Rossland and summers at Christina Lake. Charlie and Lil moved to Vulcan, AB in 2005 to be closer to their family.

Lillian was predeceased by her love, Charlie (Carse), her siblings – Hilda Simister of Rossland/Trail, B.C., Bill Cannon of Lethbridge and Betty Smith of Salmo, B.C., her son-in-law John Wark of Vulcan; and her two loving grandsons, Tyler Howe and Garrod Howe.

Miss Lilly is survived by her children Glenn (Sue), granddaughters Nicole Berlando-Howe and Carla Howe, and great grandchildren Lilly, Sydnee and Caden Howe.

Garry (Dawn), grandsons Ryen Howe, Brandon and Tim Richards-Howe, great grandson Brayden Howe.

Gordie, grandchildren Alexis Howe (James Clark), Maddisone (Kale) McKenzie, Tanner Howe (Jane Pletzer), Jaxan Howe (Verena Braun), great grandchildren Taya Kundert, Slade, Tell, and Ada McKenzie.

Gail Wark, grandchildren Justin (Kiara) Wark, Colton (Amanda) Wark, Austen (Brett) Bates, great grandchildren Monroe Bates and Oaklynn Wark.

She is also survived by many adopted grandchildren and her special pen pal Emma, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Miss Lilly was a beautiful, strong, always fashionable, blinged-up woman. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. She loved with her whole heart.

The family would like to extend our most profound appreciation for the loving care given to our mum by the physicians, nursing staff, and facility staff at the Vulcan Community Health Centre. She loved every one of you.

Our deepest condolences on the passing of Aunty Lill. She and mom spent many hours on the beach at Christina Lake and Fred Sr. bringing the ladies a beer while they were swimming and tanning themselves. They sometimes didn’t get the punchlines to jokes but would giggle any way. When you ask if they knew what the joke meant and they said no, more laughs were had!! We are thinking of you all at this sad time. Love Fred, Janie & Scott. XXX
