ALAIN PIERRE HOPE-RAPP, OF VULCAN PASSED AWAY APRIL 18, 2001 AT HIS HOME IN VULCAN, ALBERTA AT THE AGE OF 76 YEARS.

ALAIN WAS BORN APRIL 8, 1925 IN TUNISIA, NORTH AFRICA. HE ATTENDED SCHOOL IN AFRICA AND UPON COMPLETING HIS EDUCATION WORKED ON THE FAMILY FARM. IN 1944 DURING THE WAR AFTER THE LIBERATION OF TUNISIA, HE WENT TO THE UNITED STATES TO TRAIN AS A PILOT. IN 1945 AFTER THE WAR, HE RETURNED TO TUNISIA TO WORK ON HIS OWN FARM AND HE WORKED IN THE WINERY OF HIS FUTURE FATHER-IN-LAW. IN 1960 HE MARRIED MARIE MATHILDE ROSENLECKER IN CALGARY AND TOGETHER THEY RANCHED NEAR SHEPHARD ON THE BOW RIVER UNTIL MOVING TO CLOVERDALE, B.C. WHILE IN CLOVERDALE ALAIN DROVE TRUCK AND FARMED. LATER THEY MOVED TO VANCOUVER WHERE HE DROVE TRUCK FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND IN HIS LATER YEARS HE WORKED AT THE P.N.E. IN VANCOUVER AND DID MAINTENANCE. IN 1996 ALAIN RETIRED AND MOVED TO VULCAN WHERE HE HAS CONTINUED TO RESIDE SINCE.

ALAIN HAD A REAL GIFT FOR MECHANICS AND SPENT MANY HOURS REPAIRING VEHICLES FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

BELOVED HUSBAND OF WIFE MARIE OF VULCAN, LOVING FATHER OF THREE SONS ERIC OF NEW BRUNSWICK, FRANCIS (JANET) OF SURREY, B.C., YVES (MARLA) OF COALHURST, TWO STEP DAUGHTERS CATHY BERGER OF VANCOUVER, B.C., MARIE CLAIRE (JEAN) VALLET OF FRANCE, STEP SON JOHN PORTAIL OF AIRDRIE, A SISTER JACQUELINE (JEAN) DUMONT OF CORSICA, FRANCE, A BROTHER FRANCOIS (FRANCOISE) RAPP OF CAMPAGNE, FRANCE, ONE GRANDSON, TWO STEP GRANDSONS, NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

ALAIN WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS PARENTS.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE MONDAY APRIL 23, 2001 AT 3:00 P.M. AT THE CARMANGAY CEMETERY, CARMANGAY, ALBERTA WITH REV. LORRAINE POWELL OFFICIATING.
