Margaret Catherine Hill passed away at Vulcan Extendicare Alberta on March 26, 2006 at the age of 86 years.
Margaret, the youngest daughter of eight children of Nels and Christina Asplund, was born May 31, 1919 on the family farm near Monarch, Alberta.
She received her education at Monarch and at a early age began working as a house maid for the Fred Hutchings family at Marquis farm near Nobelford. It was there that she met Robert Hill and they married October 3, 1938. Margaret and Bob farmed north of Vulcan in the Eastway district, where their son Duane continues to farm. Margaret and Bob moved off the farm into the Town of Vulcan in 1967 to enjoy their retirement. Margaret moved in the Vulcan Extendicare in April 2005 where she has resided since. This past October 2005 they celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.
Beloved wife of Robert Hill of Vulcan and loving mother of three daughters Joyce Hegland (Bunty Loose), Linda (Tom) Sawyer and Marj (Don) Van Camp, two sons Duane (Rita Jones) Hill and Gary (Doreen) Hill, ten grandchildren Tom and Patty, Ginger, Cory and Jackie, Jerry and Lawrence, Brady, Clayton and Jessie, ten great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law Dorrie Asplund, Betty Greene and Helen Hill, two brothers-in-law Alfred Hill and Albert Hill, numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, five brothers, a son-in-law David Hegland and a daughter-in-law Yvonne Hill.
Memorial Service was held Friday March 31, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Vulcan with Rev. Doug Barrie officiating.
Inurement at a later date at Archmount Memorial Gardens, Lethbridge.
