Alvin “Al” Stewart Henry passed away Saturday, June 18, 2005 at his home in Vulcan, Alberta at the age of 71 years.
Al was born March 25, 1934 at Calgary, Alberta to Chester and Emma Henry. Al enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army and served two years in Europe with the 27th Brigade as a Field Ambulance driver after he returned he attended classes at N.A.I.T to become a Respiratory Technician and worked at the Calgary Foothills Hospital respiratory surgery from 1971 until 1974, later in Edmonton until 1990 and to Thompson, Manitoba in1991. He retired in 2000 and the following year moved to Vulcan where he has resided since.
Al had many hobbies over the years including raising quarter horses which he really enjoyed, fishing, raising salt water tropical fish, canaries birds, grew Orchids, as well as golfing, bowling and hunting. He loved animals especially his pet dog a Great Dane “Jay ”.
Al loved his family and many times camping and being together, he had a great sence of humor and would always find the funny side of things that kept all smiling.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch 21, Vulcan and the Vulcan Golf and Country Club.
Beloved husband of Bea of Vulcan, loving father of a daughter Sue (Gary) Seamans and a son Stewart (Dorie) Henry all of Calgary, eight grandchildren, two brothers Bob of Washington and Norman (Val) of Mossleigh, two sisters Lorna Ronneberg of Bow Island and Elvina Shirley of Calgary, numerous nieces and nephews.
Al was predeceased by two sons Douglas and Scott, sister Verna (Jim) Reinhart and his parents.
Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held Wednesday June 22, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Vulcan, Alberta with Sue MacDonald D.M. officiating.
