Healy, Marilyn (nee: Lahd), of Vulcan, beloved wife of Keith, peacefully passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre on December 16, 2015 at the age of 79 years.
Marilyn was born on April 14, 1936 in Wetaskiwin, AB. She was the eldest of Jesse and Margaret Lahd and they lived at Battle Lake, AB at this time. The family then moved to Dawson Creek, BC where Jesse worked on the Alaskan Highway. Marilyn began her schooling there and continued her schooling in Calgary. In 1947, the family moved to the Brown homestead in Queenstown. She walked the one and a half mile distance to the school, preferring to walk instead of riding a horse. High School was taken in Milo and it was in these two schools where lifelong friendships began. Following high school, Marilyn attended Henderson Business College in Calgary and worked for City Hall until she married Keith Healy in 1956. They worked in the city until the spring of 1957 when they moved to the farm at Berrywater, where they resided their entire married life, until Marilyn moved to the hospital in February. Four children were born to them: Lloyd, Tim, Katherine and Debbie.
Marilyn was an active member of the Milo UCW, serving as the secretary for years. She excelled and enjoyed many crafts, especially sewing and cross stitch, winning many ribbons at the Milo Fall Fair with her efforts. She enjoyed traveling, looking forward to their trips south, having a go at the casinos and bingo halls. Even after cancer stopped her trips south, she would stop at the casinos after chemotherapy treatments. She also loved to play cards. Many Friday nights throughout the winters were spent playing Smear with Ron and Audrey. In the later years, Friday afternoons were spent playing cards with the Ladies at the Milo Drop-In Centre. And being in the hospital didn’t deter Mom or the ladies from playing cards. She still looked forward to their weekly games. Their last card games were just two weeks ago.
She faced her battle with cancer with such courage, amazing the doctors time and time again with her strength. She never complained and faced each day with a bright outlook.
She took great interest and pride in her seven grandchildren and was enjoying the addition of a great grandson. She also loved to watch the grandkids’ sporting events. There were many summers spent taking grandkids to swimming lessons but first she fed them a breakfast of many slices of french toast.
Marilyn will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 59 years, Keith Healy, sons Lloyd (Kelly) Healy of Lethbridge, Tim Healy of Vulcan and daughter Debbie (Laverne) Steeves of Bluffton, grandchildren Danielle (Stan) Wallace, Ashton (Ben Ashley) Healy, Shannon Healy, Katelynn Healy, Kevin (Rosalie) Steeves, Michael Steeves, Logan Steeves and a great grandson Sloan Wallace, a brother Grant (Betty) Lahd, a sister Jo-Ann (Cam) Klem, sister-in-law Dorothy Healy, brother-in-law Lorne (Marlene) Healy, numerous nieces and nephews and many cherished friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Jesse and Margaret Lahd, an infant daughter Katherine, daughter-in-law Irene Healy, brother-in-law Bob Healy and nephews Jerry Lahd and Robert Healy.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 at 1:30 pm at the Vulcan United Church, Sue MacDonald officiating. Interment Vulcan Cemetery.

So sorry for your loss, Keith and family.
You were a very caring, attentive family to Marilyn during her long journey.
Nothing is longer than a day in a hospital and you were right there with her for many, many days.
Sincerely hope that those special, happy memories will be a part of you always.
Was sorry to hear Marilyn lost her battle with cancer, a disease I have fought against with fund raising for 35 years. She never lost that amazing smile. My condolences to the Healys.
