Doreen Elizabeth (Bell) Hart passed away peacefully on September 14, 2006 at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital in the presence of her husband Oliver and several family members at the age of 71 years.

Doreen was born in a log cabin on February 23, 1935 near Nampa, Alberta.  She was the first of four daughters and grew up in Bow City where she met and married Oliver Hart.  They moved to Lomond in 1954 where they started Hart Transport and operated the UFA bulk station for several years.  They moved onto their farm in 1970 and have resided there ever since.

Doreen was very active in the community, serving on various boards.  She was a Lomond Community Club member for several years and active in the Lomond Curling Club.  Doreen loved surrounding herself with family and friends, whether it was playing cards, visiting or sharing a meal.  She welcomed the chance to open her home to Glen Hart, Terry Commet and Dena Hart, treating them as her own children.  There was always room for one more at her table.  Many kids in the community called her Mom or Grandma.  Through the years she traveled with Oliver and spent time working on crafts, family tree books, coin collections, crocheting, quilting and annual trips south for the winter.

Doreen will be missed by her husband Oliver, her six children Elaine (Sam) Ramirez of Glendale, California, Ken (Tuny) Hart of Lomond, Wayne Hart of Lomond, (Shirley Bell) of Lethbridge, Susan (Malcolm) McIlroy of Red Deer, Carol (Ron) Birch of Lomond, Lorna (Dan) Soltesz of Brooks, three sisters Rosalie Maurer of Bassano, Rita (Russell) Briscoe of Calgary and Linda (Bob) Hale of Bassano, eighteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
