CLAYTON LEROY HAMILTON, PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY AT THE STRATHMORE COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE SEPTEMBER 9, 1999 AT THE AGE OF 72 YEARS.
CLAYTON WAS BORN OCTOBER 26, 1926 AT HAMILTON, ONTARIO TO ROY AND MAYBELLE HAMILTON. THE FAMILY RESIDED AT NINGA, MANITOBA WHERE CLAYTON ATTENDED SCHOOL UNTIL WORKING FOR MANITOBA HYDRO. IN THE EARLY 1950’S HE TRANSFERRED TO THE CITY OF CALGARY ELECTRIC SYSTEM WHERE HE WORKED UNTIL RETIRING IN 1985. FOLLOWING HIS RETIREMENT HE ENJOYED MANY TRIPS TO THE STATES AND SUMMERS AT THE COTTAGE AT SIKSIKA. IN 1992 CLAYTON AND HIS WIFE MOVED TO VULCAN WHERE HE HAS RESIDED SINCE.
CLAYTON ENJOYED PLAYING MANY SPORTS. IN HIS YOUNGER YEARS HE PLAYED SEMI-PRO HOCKEY IN FLIN FLON, MANITOBA. HE ENJOYED CURLING, PLAYING POOL REGULARLY DURING THE WINTER MONTHS AND WAS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE VULCAN GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB, WHERE HE WAS A PAST DIRECTOR. HE VOLUNTEERED HIS TIME AND TALENTS AT THE COUNTRY CLUB AND AT THE NEW SENIORS CENTRE. HE WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION IN CALGARY, STRATHMORE AND THE PAST EIGHT YEARS AT VULCAN. CLAYTON WAS PAST PRESIDENT OF THE EAGLES CLUB IN CALGARY. HE HAD A SPECIAL TALENT OF BEING ABLE TO BUILD ANYTHING, HE COULD THINK OF OUT OF WOOD, WITH HIS WELL CRAFTED TRUCK BOX BOARDS, FRIENDS COULD TELL, WHERE HE WAS PARKED.
BELOVED HUSBAND OF GLADYS HAMILTON OF VULCAN, LOVING FATHER OF TWO DAUGHTERS TRACY (SHANE) TRAVIS OF CARSTAIRS, JANICE (KEL) CONNER OF STRATHMORE, A SON CRAIG (BARB) HAMILTON OF CALGARY, THREE STEP-DAUGHTERS VALERIE (LARRY) HARRIS, BONNIE (JON) LEECH ALL OF CALGARY, MICHELLE (BOB SCOTT) LANGDON OF TORONTO, TWO STEP-SONS LONNIE (DIANE) STAPLES OF RED DEER, BRUCE STAPLES OF CALGARY, FOURTEEN GRANDCHILDREN TWO SISTERS NELL TREWIN OF MANITOBA, NADINE ROE OF CARNDUFF, SASKATCHEWAN, A HALF BROTHER GAR EMMONS OF ONTARIO, NUMEROUS NIECES, NEPHEWS AND HIS PET DOG, DARBY.
CLAYTON WAS PREDECEASED BY HIS SISTER DORIS SPENCER AND HIS PARENTS.
FUNERAL SERVICE TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 14, 1999 AT 3:00 P.M. AT VULCAN UNITED CHURCH WITH REV. LORRAINE POWELL OFFICIATING. CREMATION TO FOLLOW.
CASKET BEARERS WERE DAVE RISBEY, GERRY FORSYTH, RAY FORSYTH, JOHN DAVIES, CRAIG ROSS AND WILLIS OLSON.
