The Lord called Mary Janet Lorraine (Syme) Hagg to her heavenly home on April 18, 2019 at the age of 94 years.
Lorraine was born at home on the farm near Granum, AB on Oct 9, 1924. After high school she attended Normal School in Calgary and taught at Hollandale, near Granum, and at Alston, near Vulcan. It was while she was teaching at Alston that she met Howard at one of the school dances. They were married in Dec. 1948 and spent most of their married life on the farm west of Champion. In 1987 they had a house built in Vulcan and retired there. She and Howard continued to live in Vulcan until their passing.
Lorraine will always be remembered for her commitment to her Lord, her faithfulness to Bethel Lutheran Church, Vulcan where she was the pianist/organist for over 60 years.
Lorraine leaves to mourn her 5 children: Cheryl of Red Deer, Gail (Lynn) McDonald of Olds, Gordon (Mary Lou) Hagg of High River, Marjorie (George) Stenger of Leduc County, Beverly (Marvin) Vaage, Champion, her 4 sisters: Audrey, Shirley (Jack), Pam (George), Pat (Wayne) all of Lethbridge, 17 grandchildren 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Howard (2018), her parents Tom and Mary Syme, and Howard’s parents Otto and Anna Hagg.
Celebration of her Life will be held on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 2 pm at Central Church of Christ (409-1 St S). Interment Champion Cemetery.
