Surrounded by his family, Gerald Arthur Grenier of Carmangay, Alberta passed away May 13, 2002 at Vulcan Community Health Centre at the age of 65 years.
On September 10, 1936 Gerald was born to Arthur and Nellie Grenier on the family farm in Cowansville, Quebec.
Gerald married Dorothy Davis in July 5, 1957 at Richford, Vermont. Gerald worked at the Roxton furniture plant until he opened his own pizzeria in Knowlton, Quebec. When Gerald tool ill he sold the pizzeria and enjoyed his outdoor hobbies until the family decided to move to Carmangay, Alberta in 1995. Gerald worked along with his family at the Vulcan Royal Canadian Legion canteen until his health declined and was no longer able.
Gerald loved his family and friends and many times spent with them, he especially enjoyed anything that kept him outside. Fishing and gardening were his passions.
Beloved husband of Dorothy and loving father of two daughters Sherry (Tony) Delauw of Champion, Holly (Walter) Carrier all of Carmangay, three sons Terry (Tamara) of Carmangay, Danny of Carmangay and Ricky (Lise) of Quebec. Gerald will be missed by his seven grandchildren Mindy (Andy) of Lethbridge, Graham, Scott, Chris, Kaitlin, Nolan and Amanda. Gerald will also be missed by his mother Nellie and step-father Louis Lagrow of St. Albans, Vermont, his four brothers Larry Grenier of Lethbridge, Dalton (Ida) Grenier of Lethbridge, Morris (Audrey) Grenier of Bassano,, Huzon (Wendy) Grenier of Quebec and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerald was predeceased by his father Arthur and father-in-law Lyndsay.
The family of Gerald Grenier would like to express their thanks to the Doctors and nurses at the Vulcan Community Health Centre for their support and understanding during his stay there.
At the families request cremation has taken place and a family gathering was held May 18, 2002 at the Vulcan Legion Hall.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire tributes in Gerald’s memory could be made to either the Ladies Auxiliary of the Vulcan Community Health Centre Box 299, Vulcan TOL 2BO or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #21 Vulcan Box 175 Vulcan TOL 2BO.
