While farming, Allan maintained a water co-op in the Lomond area for 18 years.
Allan’s hobbies were travelling, collecting John Deere tractors, taking part in tractor pulls and enjoyed curling for 25 years. Prior to retiring he met the love of his life Sandra on a cruise ship and they continued to enjoy travelling together for many years.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank Vulcan Extendicare staff for the amazing care and compassion during his stay. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Vulcan Healthcare Auxiliary or Stars Air Ambulance.

Mom and Harvey boyd were great friends i met Allen and sandy and found how loving they were. Allen loved his wife. Wonderful man he was. Our heart and condolences goes out to sandy. Harvey and Allen can really have a chat about farming now. Rip. Jean and melody holden.
My sincere sympathy goes out to Sandy and all of Allan’s family at this sad time. I have known Allan all of my life and he was one of the finest men I have ever known … a true gentleman! An exceptional farmer, Allan was a hard working man who always supported our community and who was an important part of The Armada, Lomond and Vulcan Districts for many decades! I will always remember with great pleasure my visits with Allan … in the field … on the street … in my home … and most recently in The Vulcan Extendicare. Allan lived to what is generally referred to as “a ripe old age” and enjoyed a very good life but still will be greatly missed by his family and friends!
