GRAHAM, Lloyd Cass 1922 – 2023

Lloyd Cass Graham, of Vulcan, passed away at the Vulcan Extendicare February 24, 2023 at the age of 100 years.

Lloyd was born July 11, 1922 in Vulcan to Leila and Clifford Graham. He farmed in Vulcan all his life. He began curling in high school and in 1948, he skipped an all Graham rink at the Foothills Bonspiel and won the Grand Aggregate.

In 1945 he married Gwen Utley, a registered nurse, who came to work at the Vulcan Hospital. They moved into the house that Joseph Graham built. They loved to travel and spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona and travelled to many other countries.

Farming was his life and he continued to farm until he was in his 90’s and even when he retired, he always seemed to know when to drive out and check on the guys when they arrived on his land. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and especially enjoyed it when they came to visit on the farm. They enjoyed many happy camping trips and picnics with family, friends and neighbors.

Dad could fix anything and he shared his knowledge with his family. He always said “A little hard work never hurt anybody!”

Lloyd and Rose Munro were married December of 1998. They were blessed with 24 years together and created many wonderful memories. Lloyd’s love of travel continued as they enjoyed many trips together.

Lloyd loved to coffee with his coffee buddies most mornings and afternoons. He loved to visit with people and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Lloyd was a wonderful Grandpa and even well into his 90’s, could be found playing on the ground with the grandchildren. He gave the biggest hugs! Lloyd was very loved and will be dearly missed. We’ve been blessed with our years together.

Besides his loving wife Rose Munro-Graham, Lloyd is survived by daughters Valerie (Brent) Skura of Richmond, B.C and Leila (Ron) Bunton of Lethbridge, 3 grandchildren – Erin (Joe) Isberg, Ryan Skura and Greg (Amy) Klippert, 3 great grandchildren – Ethan and Emma Isberg and Sophie Klippert; Rose’s family – Sharon and Greg Fuller, Dave and Tracy Munro, Duane and Suzanne Munro, 9 grandchildren – Jason (Lisa) Fuller, Scott (Amy) Fuller, Pamela (Aaron) Matlock, Chad (Katrina) Munro, Heather (Travis) Warren, Shelesea Russell, Joseph Russell, Sasha Munro, Christopher Munro, 13 great grandchildren – Jake, Juliette, Pryce and Casey Fuller, Andie, Blayne and Pierce Matlock, Sam and Elliott Munro, Jackie, Emery and Evan Warren and Victoria Russell, sister Irma (Roy) Wilson of Calgary, brother Glenn (Alice) of Vulcan, numerous nieces and nephews. My sympathy goes out to all the family of Lloyd Graham on his recent passing. He was one of the last local “old timers”, and a man who in his century truly left his mark on The Vulcan Community.
