In loving Memory of Marguerite Lela (Workman) Glowa
May 3, 1925 – June 18, 2020
Glowa, Marguerite Lela, beloved wife of the late Frederick Glowa of Carmangay, passed away in Calgary June 18, 2020 at the age of 95 years.
Marguerite was born in Cardston, Alberta and schooled in the small town of Kathryn. She was the oldest of seven children. Her father was a teacher and that started a life-time love of reading and learning.
In 1947 she met and married Fred, the love of her life and together they had three beautiful daughters, Lori, Joan and Lois and three amazing sons, Kim, Michael and Jay.
She loved raising her family, her church, working at the Vulcan Library, gardening, berry picking, canning, baking and chocolate making. Marguerite was a daughter, a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, auntie and friend. She was kind and caring and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Marguerite is survived by her loving family – three daughters: Lori and Rick Atkinson, Joan and Rock Heintz and Lois and Rob McLeod; three sons: Kim and Dawn Glowa, Michael Glowa and Jay and Fatima Glowa: Grandchildren and great grandchildren Jesse, Lenoa, Avery, Jonas and Elliott Atkinson, Anne, Vanessa and Miguel Ferriera, Daniel, Karli, Edyn, Linkyn and Haylee Atkinson, Cody and Kelly Heintz, Araya Kapala, Bradley, Maggie, William and Spencer Heintz, Jeffrey, Kelly, Tessa, Evan, Grady and Maddien McLeod, Kevin, Jenna, Reeve and Ryker McLeod, Rory, Ashley, Berkley, Kenley and Ryley McLeod, Jason, Gabrielle, Michael and Jonathan Glowa, Ben, Myriam and Jacob Glowa, and her sister LaVeda Stoddart. She was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Winnifred Workman and her beloved husband Fred Glowa in 2013.
A private family grave side service will be held at the Carmangay Cemetery.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff at South Health Campus.

Dear Lori, Joan, Lois, Kim, Michael and Jay – we were sorry to hear of the death of your Mother. She was a lovely lady who was lively, fun and a hard worker. She loved her family very much!
My Mom was very upset to learn of her passing, as she was her good friend. Your Mother was so kind to frequently visit and call my Mom sharing love and giving service.
All the years I knew your Mother, she was always positive and friendly. I am sorry for your loss and hope all your sweet memories with her will be a comfort during this tender time.
With Love,
Jean (Findlay) McKibbin
I always like to see Fred and Marguerite when they came to Barnwell. She was my dads favorite cousin
Our condolences to the Glowa Family.
