Fulton, Evelyn “Darlene” of Vulcan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Vulcan Community Health Centre, on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the age of 74 years.
She was born in Vulcan, the first daughter of Basil (Budd) and Mildred Crick. She was raised on her grandparents’ farm east of Vulcan. She attended school at Reid Hill until it closed. From grade nine to high school, she attended County Central High, where she met her husband, Owen. Following graduation, she attended the Galt School of Nursing in Lethbridge. She worked in the High River Municipal Hospital until her and Owen were married in 1962, and she moved back to Vulcan.
She began working at the Vulcan Clinic until she had her son, Jason. Four years later, her daughter, Deana joined the family.
After staying home to raise her family for several years, she returned to the Vulcan Clinic where she worked until her first grandson was born. She then retired to immerse herself in her new role of grandma.
In addition to helping with the farming operation, her dedication to her family as a wife, mother and a grandmother, Darlene was also active in the A.A.R.N. and a member of the Vulcan United Church. She was active in the church and taught Sunday school for a number of years. She also worked tirelessly in the beautiful gardens surrounding her home.
Besides her loving husband Owen, Darlene is survived by her son, Jason (Christine) Fulton, grandchildren Kaiden, Tyler and Emery; and her daughter, Deana (Scott) Campbell and grandson, Colton. She is also survived by her sister, Echo Paton, brother-in-law Victor (Gladys) Fulton, sister-in-law Helen Fulton and numerous nieces and nephews. Darlene was predeceased by her parents Budd and Mildred Crick, brother Dusty and brother-in-law, Wesley Fulton.
She will be dearly missed, and never forgotten.
A memorial service in her honour was held Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the Vulcan United Church.
