AGNES LILLIAN FERGUSON, FORMERLY OF CHAMPION, ALBERTA PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY JUNE 24, 1997 AT VULCAN, ALBERTA AT THE AGE OF 86 YEARS.
AGNES WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 13, 1910 AT CHAMPION, ALBERTA TO PETER AND MARY (nee: LINTON) PATTERSON. SHE ATTENDED YALE COUNTRY SCHOOL AND CHAMPION, AND AFTER GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL IN CALGARY SHE ATTENDED NORMAL SCHOOL. AGNES BEGAN HER TEACHING CAREER FIRST AT MARSHALL SCHOOL THEN PEACE RIVER. SHE RETURNED TO THE COUNTY OF VULCAN AND TAUGHT AT HARMONY COUNTRY SCHOOL.
SHE MARRIED HENRY GEORGE FERGUSON IN 1943 AND TOGETHER THEY FARMED. SHE CONTINUED TO SUBSTITUTE TEACH AT CHAMPION SCHOOL UNTIL THE LATE 1960’s. SHE CONTINUED TO RESIDE ON THE FARM UNTIL MOVING TO VULCAN IN 1996 WHERE SHE HAS RESIDED SINCE.
AGNES LOVED HER FAMILY ESPECIALLY HER GRAND AND GREAT GRAND-CHILDREN, SPENDING TIME WITH HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS. ALWAYS KEEPING IN TOUCH AND TOOK THE TIME TO FIND OUT WHAT HER FAMILY AND HER FRIENDS WERE DOING.
SHE WAS VERY COMMUNITY MINDED AND WAS A MEMBER OF THE WOMEN’S INSTITUTE, ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR, PAST MATRONS, AMITY CLUB AND THE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.
AGNES ENJOYED GARDENING ESPECIALLY FLOWERS, KNITTING, CROCHETING AND HANDY WORK. SHE LOVED THE FARM LIFE, THE PRAIRIES, WATCHING AND HELPING FLOWERS AND PLANTS GROW, ESPECIALLY DURING THE SPRING AND SUMMER MONTHS. SHE LOVED TO SHARE HER GARDEN PRODUCE WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY. SHE WAS INTRIGUED BY LEARNING MORE ABOUT PEOPLE, THEIR LIVES AND WAYS. SHE ENJOYED READING BIOGRAPHIES AND AUTOBIOGRAPHIES, AGNES
ALWAYS ENCOURAGED HER FAMILY TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH EACH OTHER. HER QUEST FOR KNOWLEDGE HAS NOW TAKEN HER TO A NEW PLATEAU, SHE HAS BEEN CALLED HOME TO HER LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST TO CONTINUE HER JOURNEY.
BELOVED MOTHER OF A SON LYLE FERGUSON (BARB) OF CHAMPION, A DAUGHTER NORMA (LEN) LUTZ QF INNISFAIL, FOUR GRANDCHILDREN DARREN (JEAN ANN) FERGUSON OF CHAMPION, GARETT FERGUSON OF PENTICTON, B.C., ASHLEA LUTZ OF CALGARY, ARON LUTZ OF INNISFAIL, TWO GREAT GRANDCHILDREN TREVOR FERGUSON AND ADAM FERGUSON BOTH OF CHAMPION, A SISTER MARION (GOTLIEB) GOODMAN OF KAMLOOPS, A SISTER-IN-LAW MARIE FERGUSON OF
PONOKA, NUMEROUS NIECES, NEPHEWS AND COUSINS.
AGNES WAS PREDECEASED BY HER HUSBAND HENRY IN 1981, TWO BROTHERS LINTON AND DOUGLAS, TWO SISTERS JEANNETTE AND MARGARET AND HER PARENTS.
FUNERAL SERVICE FRIDAY JUNE 27, 1997 AT 2 P.M. AT CHAMPION CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, WITH PASTOR KEITH BLACKMORE OFFICIATING.
INTERMENT CHAMPION CEMETERY.
