Fath, Pauline “Kay” of Champion passed away April 9, 2009 at the age of 54 years.
Kay was born October 16, 1954 in Cardston, Alberta to Cory and Patricia Graveland. She attended Del Bonita school and completed her high school in Magrath. Following grade twelve Kay worked for A.G.T. and also worked as a barmaid at the “Old” Legion Hall in Lethbridge.
In 1974 Kay married Graham Scattergood in Lethbridge and worked for an engraving company. Together they resided in Lethbridge and then moved to Picture Butte where she worked for an Insurance Company for a few years. In 1985 she moved to Vulcan where Kay and Graham operated the kitchen at the Legion. In 1986 Kay started working as a receptionist at the Town of Vulcan and on April 15, 1988 she began working at the County of Vulcan where she has dedicated the past 21 years as an Administrative Assistant.
Kay’s husband Graham passed away in March of 1995 and on February 3, 2001 she married Brian Fath in Lethbridge and together they have resided on the Fath farm in the Champion District. Kay enjoyed her time on the farm where she worked on the yard and loved her cats and dogs.
Kay was an exceptional women who led a fairly simple life. Her love for her family, husband, children and grand-children was utmost to Kay. The time shared with her grandchildren was treasured either baking, shopping, gardening or playing Barbies. Kay spent much of her time cooking and baking. Her baking, especially her pies were a delicacy enjoyed by family and friends. She also enjoyed shopping and reading. Kay assisted Brian with different tasks from the Legion and helped the Ladies Auxiliary on numerous occasions.
Beloved wife of Brian of Champion, loving mother of daughter Jill Scattergood (Clint) and her daughter Emily, son Nick Scattergood ( Fiancé Leanne Holoboff and her daughter Hailey) all of Lethbridge, step-daughter Julie (Grant) Ling and their children Katana and Rachel of Claresholm, two step-sons Kim (Terry) Fath and their daughter Jessica of Vulcan, Stephen (Amanda) Fath, her mother Pat Schmaltz, two brothers Doug (Marsha) Graveland all of Lethbridge, Bill (Barbara) Graveland of Okotoks, father-in-law Harvey Fath, a sister-in-law Dianne (Jim) Isaak of Lethbridge, two brothers-in-law Wayne (Sharon) Fath of Lethbridge, Gary (Kim) Fath of Lacombe, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kay was predeceased by her first husband Graham Scattergood, her father Cory and her mother-in-law Muriel Fath.
Funeral service was held Monday, April 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Champion Community Hall Champion, Alberta with Sue MacDonald DM officiating.
Casket bearers were Delbert Fischl, Kelly Malmberg, Nick Zubach, Brad Foote, Rick Beck and Gary Greig.
Cremation with inurement at a later date.
