MELVIN JOSEPH EAMOR PASSED AWAY AT VULCAN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE SEPTEMBER 14, 2000 AT THE AGE OF 81 YEARS.

MEL WAS BORN DECEMBER 2, 1918 AT VULCAN, ALBERTA TO LABON AND MARY EAMOR. HE RECEIVED HIS SCHOOLING AT VULCAN AND BEGAN WORKING AS A COWBOY IN THE BUFFALO HILLS FOR BILL HILL’S BAR-U-M RANCH. IN 1942 MEL ENLISTED IN TO THE AIR FORCE, IT WAS IN 1943 THAT HE MET BETTY KOWALEWSKY AT PEIRCE BASE NEAR FT. MACLEOD. THEY WERE MARRIED THE FOLLOWING YEAR IN LETHBRIDGE AND CONTINUED TO SERVE UNTIL NOVEMBER 1945. HE CAME TO VULCAN TO WORK AS A MECHANIC FIRST FOR FRED MENNSINGER, STAN SCALES AND FINALLY IN THE SAME LOCATION RICHARDSON & GOULD AS WELL AS FARMED A QUARTER SECTION OF LAND WHICH WAS SOLD IN 1976. MEL CONTINUED WORKING AT THE VULCAN AND DISTRICT GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB AS GROUNDS KEEPER UNTIL 1990.

MEL CONTINUED KEEPING BUSY BY CREATING WOOD LAWN ORNAMENTS PAINTING AND PLACING THEM THROUGHOUT HIS YARD. HE ALSO ENJOYED DAILY CARD GAMES AT THE VULCAN LEGION ESPECIALLY RUMMY AT THE LEGION. IN HIS YOUNGER YEARS HE ENJOYED GOLFING, DARTS AND CURLING.

MEL MOVED INTO VULCAN EXTENDICARE IN APRIL OF 1999 WHERE HE HAS RESIDED SINCE.

MEL WAS A PAST MEMBER OF THE ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS IN VULCAN, A MEMBER OF THE BENEVOLENT PROTECTIVE ORDER OF ELKS LODGE 121, VULCAN RECEIVING HIS FIFTY YEAR PIN EARLIER THIS YEAR AND A LIFE MEMBER OF THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION BRANCH 21, VULCAN.

BELOVED HUSBAND OF BETTY EAMOR OF VULCAN, LOVING FATHER OF A SON HARVEY (SUZANNE), A GRANDSON DAVID ALL OF THORNHILL ONTARIO, TWO SISTERS, MINNIE DOWLING OF PENTICTON, B.C., LAURA (WALTER) DANN OF VULCAN, NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

MEL WAS PREDECEASED BY THREE BROTHERS CHARLIE, JACK, GEORGE, FOUR SISTERS SARAH BENDICSON, IDA MAE ROBSTAD, ALICE JORDAN AND HAZEL FRASER AND HIS PARENTS.

FUNERAL SERVICE TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 19, 2000 AT 1:30 P.M. AT THE VULCAN UNITED CHURCH WITH REV. LORRAINE POWELL OFFICIATING.

HONOUR GUARD WERE GEORGE LAWRENCE, RON BARTSCH, WALTER DANN, MEL BURGESS AND GLEN EVANS.

CASKET BEARERS WERE DAVID EAMOR, DON HOULTON, LEROY BRANDON, ED ZILKE, DAYTON WILLIAMS AND JOHN SCATTERGOOD.

INTERMENT WITH PADRE DOUG BARRIE AT THE FIELD OF HONOUR, VULCAN CEMETERY.
