DUNCAN, MARY ALICE WAS CALLED HOME TO HER LORD AND SAVIOUR AT THE VULCAN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE ON DECEMBER 15, 1996 AT THE AGE OF 89 YEARS.
MARY WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 24, 1907 AT DENBEIGH, NORTH DAKOTA AND CAME WITH HER PARENTS TO NANTON IN 1910 TO HOMESTEAD EAST OF NANTON IN THE ENSIGN DISTRICT. THEY MOVED TO BULLS HEAD IN THE MEDICINE HAT AREA THEN CAME TO ARROWWOOD IN 1916 WHERE SHE WORKED IN THE HOME TAKING CARE OF HER PARENTS AFTER HER BOTHERS AND SISTERS MOVED AWAY FROM HOME.
SHE ENJOYED TIMES WITH FAMILY ESPECIALLY DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS WHEN MANY NIECES AND NEPHEWS WOULD SPEND THE SUMMER VACATION WITH HER AND SHE LOVED TO SHARE HER HOBBIES WITH THEM, ESPECIALLY RUG HOOKING, COOKING AND FEEDING PEOPLE. MARY RETIRED AND MOVED TO THE PETER DAWSON LODGE AND THEN TO EXTENDICARE IN 1989 IN VULCAN WHERE SHE HAS RESIDED SINCE.
MARY CAME TO KNOW THE LORD EARLY IN LIFE AND HAS FOLLOWED HIS DIRECTION SINCE.
SHE IS SURVIVED BY A BROTHER DELBERT AND HIS WIFE ANNE DUNCAN AND A SISTER SARAH OLDFIELD ALL OF CALGARY, AND NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS. SHE WAS PREDECEASED BY HER PARENTS GEORGE AND SARAH, FIVE BROTHERS AND SIX SISTERS.
FUNERAL SERVICE FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20, 1996 AT 2 P.M. AT CENTRAL CHURCH OF CHRIST, 409-1 ST. S. VULCAN, WITH REV. LEN EICHLER OFFICIATING.
INTERMENT VULCAN CEMETERY.
